JUGS434 Easter Basket

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Can you handle one more Easter card?  The team at JUGS has a Wild Card CAS theme this week:

and I had made this card a couple of days ago using the last image from the retired Hello Spring set:

I stamped the image in Stazon and simply colored it with some inks, then diecut it out and mounted it on a notecard of Peekaboo Peach:

I added a little Easter sentiment on the inside.  Can't get much simpler than that!

My little helper! I decided, on impulse, to redecorate my downstairs bathroom; the rest of the downstairs is finished but the bathroom wallpaper was way overdo for coming down!  Now I am on a deadline to get it painted as we have company coming on Friday!  Yikes!  You know what I'll be doing today!  She loved ripping off the wallpaper (sniff, sniff, I loved that gingham, but it was dated!):

She even took off the outlet covers....although her technique was a little unique, she got it done!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB13 Sunshine Happy Wishes

Hello peeps!  Hope you're having a good week so far.!  Laurel has a delightful challenge for us at Inspired By this week; here's what I came up with:

I just haven't played with the Apron of Love set enough, so after seeing the challenge photo, I knew just what I wanted to do!  Here's the photo to get you inspired too:

These linens look just like some my mom had growing up!!  I was inspired by the plaids as well as the colors for my Apron card!  To start, I used some Papertrey Chicken Scratch gingham paper for my background, then stamped my apron in Pear Pizzazz and added a pocket and ties with Garden Green.  I am just in love with that little scalloped trim!  I added some flowers popping out of the pocket in Pear Pizzazz and Crushed Curry:

To follow along with the flowers, I put a big sunflower with some matching leaves up in the corner, cut with a Simon Says Stamp die called Radiant Sunflower, adding a little green bug from SU's Itty Bitties:

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Suite Sentiments (ret) and the butterfly from Hold on to Hope:

A hint for adhering the wee little elements on the apron is to use a small strip of Adhesive Sheet; I save each and every little scrap, just for small pieces like this.  And if you worry about having them stick, you can run your layers through the Big Shot again once you've adhered them (but before adhering anything dimensional!) or just use your bone folder from the back to make sure they adhere!

I hope you'll play along with the Inspired By challenge!  It's fun to see more and more crafty stampers getting in on the action!  Make sure you're in the gallery too!

My niece took the kiddos to the Y pool yesterday and sent me this photo.

Now Cassidy has taken lessons at the Y and passed her test to receive her green armband so she can swim without a life jacket, so I was confused as to why they made her wear one!  My niece told me they couldn't find her information in the computer, so after this photo was taken, Cassidy marched up to the lifeguard and "informed" her that she knew how to swim and did NOT want to wear the jacket.  So the lifeguard told her "Well, we'll test you right now", so Cassidy jumped in, swam across the pool and got her green band!! She is learning to speak up for herself!!  (Too much, really, LOL!)  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CASology 293 - Easter Cross

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Super-quick post today; the CASology challenge this week is:

and I happened to need another Easter card!  One of my favorite non-SU embossing folders is called Cross with Words from Darice; although it's hard to see in the photo, I brayered some Flirty Flamingo ink on the inside of the folder and embossed a piece of Rustic White cardstock.  I added a few faint flowers from Touches of Texture around the outside of the embossing, added a Blushing Bride diecut cross and mounted it on a Blushing Bride card:

I also added a glimmer embellishment on the center of the cross:

We have lots to do today, so that's it!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

We made some tie-dyed eggs....more on how they turned out later!

RetroRubber 83 Anything Goes

Hi everyone!  Tuesday means another Retro Rubber challenge and this is an easy one---Anything Goes!  Just use stamps that are least a year old, and tell us how old they are!!

Image may contain: text

I switched gears from Easter yesterday to Christmas today, dusting off a stamp set from 2012 called Winter Memories--again, it was only in the Holiday mini and I barely had time to use it!  I stamped the ice skates in Stazon black and used watercolors and markers to color it in:

I colored a little Soft Sky "shadow" behind the image to give it a little depth, which looks nice with the blue background papers I used:

The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Poppy Parade, diecut with a square Stitched Shape die, repositioning it so I could get the rectangle shape.  My background is the Plaid Flannel stamp (2006), which is another stamp I'd been wanting for a while and finally found it on ebay!  The little holly leaves are from the Quilt Builder die set; I sponged the edges in Craft White ink, and punched some berries from a scrap of the same paper I used on the front of the card...those little white dots came in handy for my berries' highlights!

And for the inside, I used a stamp set from 2013 called Warmth and Wonder:

And now I have another card for my Christmas stash!  I hope you'll play along with us...the field is wide open!  Share it with us at Retro Rubber and meanwhile, check out what everyone else created for some fun inspiration!  You'll be surprised at what's in the gallery this week!

The library had Candy Bar Bingo yesterday...I don't think they were prepared for the 40+ children that showed up....but the librarian kept her cool and everyone went home a winner!  It was especially fun since the bingo chips were Hershey's Kisses!

(Notice the kisses all lined up!!!)

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

JUGS433, SOS346 and IM343 Hello Spring

Happy Monday peeps!  It's the start of Cassidy's Easter break, so I may be MIA occasionally this week!  I did get some stamping time in over the weekend and I am submitting my simple spring/Easter card to the following challenges:

In{k}spire Me - Easter, and Just Us Girls - Photo Challenge:

as well as the Shopping Our Stash challenge of Easter as well!  So here we go:

This card combines old and new!  The DSP is from Whole Lot of Lovely, and the stamp is old, old, old....I am not sure if my friend Teri gave this to me, or I found it at a yardsale!  Anyway, it was one of the stamps that was mounted on a very thick piece of foam rubber...inexpensive, but not really comfortable to stamp with!  I took the rubber off and re-mounted it on cling-mount foam, and it's much easier to stamp with!  Anyway, the set has four stamps...the tulips, the bunny, a basket of eggs and the sentiment.  I made a mask of the bunny with a post-it note, and stamped the tulips on either side behind the bunny, then loosely colored them, and the bunny, with inks and an aquapainter:

This style of line art was what drew me to SU many years ago; I didn't get this stamp when it first came out and always regretted it, so I was happy to add it to my collection!  I finished my image by diecutting it with a stitched oval die, adding a Basic Black scallop mat and adding the sentiment directly on the DSP:

Finally, I added a pretty sentiment from Suite Sentiments (ret), and if you look very closely, you can see that I stamped the basket over the sentiment in Powder Pink:

Now to get this one, and all my others, out in the mail this week!  Thanks for popping by--enjoy your day and be blessed!

Not sure who owns whom!

PP386 Happy Easter

Happy Palm Sunday, everyone!  What a blessing it is to think about this time of resurrection!  We're having a brunch at church today, so it's a double blessing!!  Busy but fun.  And I was busy in my craft room this weekend, creating my Paper Players' card for Claire's sketch...LOVE this one!

I am behind on making my Easter cards, and since there were lots of layers on Claire's sketch, I went for lots of different pastel-hued papers!!!  I certainly have enough of them, but many of them in the colors that I wanted were more vintage-styled, so I had to really search to find these!

There's really not much stamping on this card!  I started with my wreath, which is actually a Christmas wreath from my recently-purchased Lawn Fawn set, Peace Joy Love.  It's really just a little semi-circle stamp, so I inked it up three times in Pear Pizzazz ink and matched the ends to make a circle shape, then diecut it with a Stitched Shapes Framelit.   I added some Crisp Cantaloup flowers with pearl centers, and a little diecut bunny with a purple bow (Lil'Inker):

I added pink and blue banners, then hung a little diecut tag (Provocraft), stamped with an Easter sentiment and strung on a Crisp Cantaloupe thick Baker's Twine bow:

I also put an Easter sentiment on the inside of my card as well!  These colors just make me think of spring and Easter eggs!  I hope you'll play with Claire's sketch as well, and check out what the DT created!  They've outdone themselves:

·        Claire
·        Jaydee
·        Joanne
·        Laurie
·        Nance
·        Sandy
·        Elizabeth
·        Annie
·        Jan

Almost all the snow has melted from our storm, so I am glad Cassidy got to play in it for a little while!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI172 Tranquil Pink Birthday

Hi peeps!  Yay, it's Friday...it's been a long week!  I was thrilled when I saw the As You See It color challenge for this week...isn't it pretty?

No automatic alt text available.

Some gorgeous colors!  I used the sketch from the Global Design Project:

and here we go:

I really made the DSP work on this card...I used two of the patterns from Fresh Florals, then fussy-cut one of the Tranquil Tide florals from another pattern for the main focal point.  I added a sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday, some white twine and a few sequins, and I was done.....except that I made this card early one sleepless morning; it was about 2 am, I think, and when I was all finished, I realized I had forgotten the Smoky Slate!!!  So I cut a little banner from Smoky Slate cardstock, distressed it with my bone folder and split the layers so that I had two layers that almost look like suede.  I tucked them behind the flower and called it done!

I really love this color combination and I can't wait to see what everyone creates with it!  I hope you'll play along with us....check out the DT's designs to get some inspiration at As You See It!

A little snow fun with my nephew's dog Remy...he likes to eat it!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
