ColourQ Challenge #13

Needing some quick thank you cards, I went to Arielle's ColourQ challenge for my inspiration:

I made use of my new SU stamp set, I {Heart} Hearts as well as the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and the new corduroy buttons in Pretty in Pink.  I also used Lots of Tags for the die cut; sadly, I realize I need a couple new cutting pads.....there are LOTS of scratches on mine!!  Just a couple layers, some Melon Mambo ribbon and it was finished! I really love this color combo, so I may just do a few more!

Here are a few more Christmas cards I received; I am ALMOST done--I got A LOT!  I still need to photograph a few of them!!

An elegant beauty from Shawn:

another beauty from my upline, Pennie (this whole card is SHIMMERY!):

and from another downline, Alison:

I hope everyone has a safe, happy, healthy New Year's Eve---no matter what you're doing!

Chickadee Birthday

DSCF6331 I saw this sweet chickadee image on SCS and immediately knew I had to have it!  Even though it is probably considered a Christmas image, I used it for a birthday card for my sister, because we both love birds, and I just thought it was still appropriate for a January birthday!!!

DSCF6332-1

This little guy is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics; DP is BG's Wassail---it really is more of a green than shows here!  I added some shimmer with a Gelly Roll pen, which of course, doesn't show up here!  A few pearls added a little extra elegance.

And here are a few more wonderful cards to share with you:

A very sweet "quilted" card from Beth:

An adorable card from my CTD buddy Danielle:

and a very cleverly-done set of ornaments by Robyn:

Cupcake Birthday

DSCF6337

Just a quick little card today for my nephew's birthday....I am sure he will be wishing there was a deer or an elk or something a little more masculine on it, but he'll have to enjoy sprinkles on a cupcake!!  Here we go:

DSCF6335-1

I used Mercy's sketch#54, turned on its side:

MTSC54

and an assortment of BG Cupcake papers, Real Red, Old Olive and Brocade Blue cardstocks, and SU sets Crazy for Cupcakes and On Your Birthday.  Pretty straightforward as it is a guy card....but I did stick a little glitter on the flame!  :D

Now for some more Christmas cards!

One from Bonnie:

and a sweet, simple, but oh-so-striking one from Carol:

a wonderfully-executed one from Wendy in non-traditional colors:

Christmas Thanks

DSCF6198

I am so grateful for all my stamping friends; the ones I've met and the ones I only know through blogging.  What a wonderful world blogging has opened to us!  I have received so many beautiful cards for Christmas, I want to take a few days to share them with you.  I may not have anything new to post during the next week, but hopefully I'll share the RAKs that have been coming in the mail!

Today, I do have a card to share, just a quick one I made with a new Cornish Heritage Farms silhouette image and some Crafty Secrets paper:

DSCF6195

I did add some elements from SU's Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' kit and some SU ribbon just to add a little interest.  A PTI sentiment is stamped on the holly element.

Now, as promised, here are a couple Christmas cards.  I do have them titled as "RAKs", because to me, they ARE acts of kindness.  I feel honored that my friends take time to make a card and send it to me.  And several times, when I comment on their blog about a card I see, THEY SEND IT TO ME!!!  How special is THAT!  Can you tell that I am excited about this!  So let's see what I have to share:

From the queen of CAS herself, Susan Rahaila;

DSCF6210

And this beauty from my downline, Linda:

DSCF6221

And a stunning stencilled number from another downline, Kathy:

That's it for today....stop back when you can!  Remember, if you have any questions about anything used on these cards, please feel free to email me!

A Quick Gift

We had our church small group party Thursday night and one of my friends was wearing a cute little resin pin of a cat in a stocking.  I had JUST ordered this cute little Lockhart stamp, and thought I would make a pin, too, for one of the other ladies in our group who always hosts and has several cats.  So here is a little tutorial!

DSCF6166

For this particular pin, I stamped the image in Stazon on watercolor paper, then watercolored it and cut it out.  I then stamped it three times on black cardstock with white craft ink, and cut them out.  I like to cut out the black ones just a tiny bit inside the lines.

DSCF6167

Glue one black piece to the back of the original stamped image with Crystal Effects; when it is dry, glue each successive piece.  A clothespin is good to hold the layers together.

DSCF6171

Now take a black marker and color the white edges of the watercolor paper.

DSCF6173

Your image should now be four layers thick; tap it firmly on a Versamark pad, sprinkle clear embossing powder over it and heat emboss it.  Do this twice.

DSCF6175

Isn't she sweet?  Another view:

DSCF6174

DSCF6176

Now add a pin back--this is an easy, peel & stick one!

DSCF6180

Make a little card to pin it on........

DSCF6182

and package it up in a little cello bag!  These don't really take that long to make!!  Hope they inspire you to make your art into jewelry!

Snowy Day

DSCF6185

Well, if you live in the Midatlantic area, you are probably tucked inside warm & cozy because there's a blizzard outside!  My little garden angel is a SNOW angel today!  A perfect day to stay inside and stamp!  So that's what I am doing!

I am making cards for my nieces & nephews in which to tuck a little "green gift", so I am still the Christmas mode!  I used the ColourQ11 color challenge today as well as (sort of) Mercy's sketch #52:

cqc11-1 MTSC52

So here we go:

DSCF6190-2

My Santa from Flourishes is stamped in Basic Gray on Very Vanilla and mounted on Bashful Blue cardstock.  Since I didn't have an oval Nestie large enough to fit the image, I just made a rectangle.  The DP peeking out is retired SU; I used a MS snowflake punch on the Basic Gray piece.  A fun thing I did was to punch a little snowflake image (it's also on the Santa panel....can you see it?) on a piece of white organdy ribbon.  Since the Basic Gray ink is a little bit waterproof, it stamps easily on the ribbon....cool!  Then I punched a couple snowflakes, tapped them onto my Versamark pad and coated them with Heat & Stick powder....heated them, then sprinkled on some silver MS glitter & heated again.  The bling looks blue, but it is actually silver too:

DSCF6190

I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are and whatever you're doing!
