RRCB276 Love the Beach

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Halfway through the week!  I keep alternating between summer cards and Christmas cards---both are fun to do!  Today it's a summer card, and I am using the sketch from Retro Rubber:

Of course, since there are three panels, I had to play along!  Only a wee bit of stamping on this one, it's mostly ink, paper and dies:

I have an old Cuttlebug die (2006) that I used with some Basic Beige cardstock, then colored the cutouts with SU blends.  I added some Itty Bitty Backgrounds (1997) to the square pieces and mounted them all on a piece of Vitamin Sea from Honey Bee:

I also tried my hand at "speckling" the diecuts with some white craft ink....I definitely need practice on that!  The sentiments are from Unity's All Smiles (2011) and The Paper Studio's Every Day Expressions (2009):

I stamped a sentiment from Charming Sentiments (2022) on the inside and added the little bonus diecuts that cut at the same time as the larger ones!

Everything was Wink of Stella-ed too, but of course, that never shows up!  Anyway, it was a fun card to make and it will go in my birthday stash!  And I didn't realize that my card is very similar to Jane's! Great minds think alike!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC621 Floral Sketch

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you had a good weekend!  The Atlantic Hearts Sketch this week is certainly a fun one, as it always is!

Since I already had a couple of Unity sets out on  my desk from yesterday's card, I decided to use the large zinnia image instead of actual circles. Here we go:

I stamped the flowers three times around the edges in Peach Pie, using an Old Olive market to color in the stem.  I added an older Easter sentiment, also stamped in Old Olive, and diecut with the Everyday Arches die, then mounted it on a Peach Pie card base:

I made another card while I was at it, using a sentiment from Charming Sentiments, diecutting it with the matching die and using an Old Olive card base.  I backed the sentiment with a matching "shadow", and I also colored in the lady bugs with a Lemon Lolly marker; just a different look:

The sentiment was placed in a different location too, and I added some speckles from Country Birdhouse for fun:

I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week!  You can see all the DT submissions on Wednesday, but feel free to play along right now!  Can't wait to see what you create!

AHSC572 Moody Mauve Birthday

Happy Monday, all! Hope you had a good weekend!  Will you be watching the eclipse?  Not me! I am sure I'll see plenty of news coverage, and it isn't really in my area anyway!

It's time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch and I had fun making this one!  Here's the sketch:

I haven't used Moody Mauve in a while, so I pulled out some Poetic Expressions DSP along with some Moody Mauve cardstock and here's what I came up with:

I diecut an oval from the DSP and matted it with a scallop, then adhered it to a piece of Moody Mauve embossed with the Countryside Blossoms embossing folder. My "greenery" is composed of diecuts from the Stippled Roses dies, and this time I added some of the floral diecuts (they're little sleepers in this set, easy to miss!) in Basic White and retired Merry Merlot. I had a hard time adding a bow, so I added a wee bit of crinkled white seam binding beneath each flower:

On the outside, I added a sentiment from Charming Sentiments:

and another one on the inside, along with some more diecut flowers:

This is such a fun sketch, and the design team has some fun creations too!  You can see all of them on the AHSC blog on Wednesday! Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

IB278 Just For You

Happy Friday, peeps, and happy March!  It is only a few weeks away until spring, but it is still feeling very wintry here in SE PA!  I am off to stamp with my retirement home ladies this morning! Looking forward to getting crafty with them!  My card today is for the Inspired By challenge:

I used both the photo colors and the sketch as my inspiration!  I pulled out Stippled Roses and went to work:

I stamped two of the smaller roses in Stazon ink and colored one with Melon Mambo ink, then added the leaf image and colored them with Garden Green ink:

I mounted them on a vellum circle sponged lightly with Melon Mambo ink; you can barely see it, but it's there behind the florals!  That in turn went on a piece of Heart and Home DSP, a Melon Mambo mat and a Bubble Bath Perennial Postage diecut.  Cardbase was Smoky Slate, embossed with the Softly Sophisticated embossing folder.  A sweet little sentiment from Charming Sentiments finished it off!

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Little Maven is getting lots of love from her big brothers!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC560 So Tiny, So Precious

Happy Friday, peeps! I just couldn't wait to make a new baby card for my niece and nephew, to welcome their little "Maven Faye" to the world!  Here she is:

I am trying to tell which one of the boys, Jameson or Sawyer, she looks like...I think it's too early to tell, but she definitely looks like one of them!  Anyway, on to my card!  My niece doesn't really go for the pastel pinks, lace and ribbons; as you can see, Maven's onesie has a definite organic feel to it!  I opted for some pretty papers from Unity to make her a card using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge sketch; I know it's not your typical baby girl card, but I hope she'll like it!  Here's the sketch:

And here we go:

I covered my card with this pretty plaid and chose a floral print for the top, but I didn't want to cover up that gorgeous tulip, so I used it as my focal image, diecutting it with a Stylish Shapes square die.  I used a smaller square die to cut coordinating squares.  I offset the main panel a wee bit so that some of that pretty plaid could peek through:

And the inside; all sentiments are from Charming Sentiments, stamped in Copper Clay ink; the banner on the front was some Very Vanilla cardstock that I colored with a Light Soft Sea Foam Blend...matches the green in the papers pretty well!

Thanks so much for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS617 Tooled Birthday

Happy Friday! Yay, it's the weekend already!  The sketch at FMS, with its three elements, gave me a chance to use the new Trusty Tools bundle!  Here's Narelle's sketch:

I have two nephews with birthdays this month and they both are very construction-minded!  If you find masculine cards challenging, this bundle is definitely for you!  So here's my card:

I stamped the wrench, hammer and tape measure on Basic White cardstock and used the coordinating stamps to fill in the colors.  The un-colored portions I filled in loosely with ink and an aquapainter:

The background is Copper Clay, diecut with the pegboard die, and I threw around a few screws and bolts!  The birthday sentiment is a retired Paper Pumpkin.

The inside sentiment is from Charming Sentiments; I stamped it crookedly, so I restamped it on a panel diecut with the Deckle Edge Rectangle dies, and added a retired Woodgrain background to keep in with the carpentry theme!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC554 A Really Big Baby Card

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I guess by the name of my post, you might think this is a baby card for a really big baby, or a really big card for a normal-sized baby!  Thankfully, it's the latter! My niece finally had her baby Sunday night, and I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts for their card:

So here's my really big card:

I wanted to be able to use a business-sized envelope, so the card is 3 3/4" x 8 1/2".  I apologize for the poor quality photo....I guess it's just too big!  I used some plaid papers from the retired Country Gingham DSP, and some scrapbook paper from my stash.  The teddy bear was stamped and colored with Blends; it's from the retired Every Little Bit, and he was mounted on an embossed square of Basic White:

The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs and the enamel dots are retired SU.  And on the inside, some sentiments from Charming Sentiments, stamped in Azure Afternoon, and for the Global Design Project challenge this week, which is "ABC--using letters",

I diecut Papertrey letters for his name:

And here is baby Coby, with Mommy and Daddy and big brother Cole....and he weighed in at 9 lb, so I guess you could say he was a big baby!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

STB270 Pumpkin Birthday

Happy Monday, peeps! I have a very quick card today, I let the papers do most of the work! It's for a very creative friend of mine; she is an accomplished seamstress, bakes and cooks the yummiest delights and we have spent lots of time stamping together!  So I thought these country-themed, fall-hued papers would be fun for her October birthday! So here we go:

My papers are from Carta Bella's Fall Break, and I used the Charming Sentiments stamps and dies, in Mossy Meadow ink, to create the sentiment.  A little piece of the opposite side of one of the papers, along with a scrap of Mossy Meadow, created the banner.  A simple sentiment on the inside, and it was done!

I am going to enter this at the Seize the Birthday challenge, where it's always birthdays!  I did not choose the option of repetitive diecuts, but I do have one, LOL!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Creative Creases GD Bay Window Card

Happy Friday, everyone!  I was super pleased to be asked by Debbie from Creative Creases to be a guest designer!  Fun folds are fun to make and fun to receive!  I went searching in blogland for some creative inspiration and here's what I came up with:

This is called a "bay window" fun fold card, and it came courtesy of the uber-creative Mary Deatherage, and you can see her tutorial HERE.  Here's how it looks when it's folded out:

For my card, I used Moody Mauve for the base, and Cajun Craze and All About Autumn DSPs for the panels.  It was fun to use that beautiful leafy image for the front, then add some glittery patterns for the sides!  I added a sentiment from Charming Sentiments on top of a Bubble Bath Soft Shimmer diecut accented with some Moody Mauve ribbon.  The cool thing about this card is that it can fold flat for mailing...it's the same size as a regular card!

I hope this inspires you to try out this fun fold...or any fun fold....and share it over at the Creative Creases blog! We can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

SSC318 Hey There!

Happy Friday, everyone!  I have a real quick card today using the Sunday Stamps challenge:

I love banners, and I love gingham, so I combined them with a cute little sunflower stamp from a past Paper Pumpkin kit!  So here we go:

I stamped the flower outline first in Crushed Curry, then offset the petals and stamped again in Daffodil Delight, and the center in Pecan Pie. The Pecan Pie gingham forms the banners and background, and I added a sentiment from Charmed Sentiments:

Another sentiment from the same set went on the inside:

Simple but cheerful!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC537 Patchwork Birthday

Happy Tuesday, peeps! The sketch from Atlantic Hearts this week is similar to one I have played with before, and I love how it allows you to play with lots of little pieces of DSP!  Here's the sketch:

I needed two birthday cards, so while I was cutting my little leftover pieces of the beautiful Inked Botanicals paper, I just cut enough to make two!  So here we go:

Each piece is 1 1/4" wide so it's great to use up those scraps!  I chose some coordinating patterns and laid them out before giving them a final snip!  The sentiment is from Charming Sentiments, and I added some Lost Lagoon and a couple Iridescent Pastel Gems for some sparkle:

This sketch is definitely a keeper!

Last night our area had a WHOPPER of a storm....we lost our power for about three hours and there are trees down on lots of roads and still some people in the dark!  Cassidy took the dogs and went down to the basement and got in the tub with the dogs:

I had to chuckle because Eden HATES getting in the tub but she didn't seem to mind with Cassidy!  They didn't stay there too long because it skirted around them fairly quickly!  Our friends up the road from them didn't fare so well....they had a tree come down right across the road, and when I called to see how they were (still no power), they said people kept running into the tree as they would come down the road because there were no lights and they didn't see it!  Wowza! I know it's hard to see but the one tree is totally blocking the road and it is a very busy road!

Praying that everyone's power gets back on quickly....at least it cleared the nasty humidity away!  Off to hang out towels on my clothesline!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
