CTD462 and MTS196

Hi peeps!  Happy last day of September, and happy Saturday....brrrr, fall has really fallen in SE PA!  I will be attending a local apple festival today and I'll need something warm to wear!  Speaking of warm, the Color Throwdown has some warm fall colors in their palette this week and I matched them with the Match the Sketch sketch:

I managed to cram in a lot of products on this little note card I created....new SU, old SU, and non-SU!!!  So here we go:

I began by embossing my Very Vanilla note card with a Darice Fall Leaf Background embossing folder.  The Pool Party panel was stamped with the woodgrain image from Truly Grateful in Versamark ink and dusted lightly with some old SU pastel chalks to enhance the colors.  The Pick a Pumpkin images were ones I had stamped for an earlier project and were still hanging around on my desk, so I added them to a  vertical banner of Merry Little Christmas DSP, then stamped a horizontal banner with a "Hello" from last year's fall Paper Pumpkin kit.  I also added a little stitched scallop scrap that I had laying on my desk too!  Good to clean up and use up those pieces!

So happy that you popped in today!  Have a blessed day and be sure to stop back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

Cassidy was showing Grampy a tooth that is almost ready to come out...she is going to church camp this weekend, I hope it doesn't come out there!

MM258 Penguin Christmas

Happy Friday, peeps!  I can't believe that I have posted three Christmas cards in a row...I promise I will have some fall-themed cards on very soon!  There were just some really fun challenges out there this week!  My little penguin card is for the Merry Monday challenge:

I remembered as I was looking through some of my stamps last week that this Clearly Besotted stamp set called InStitches Christmas had a fun little penguin, so I got him inky and came up with this:

I found some retired SU papers from a couple of years back that looked like snow, so I used it and stamped a little Pool Party belly on my little guy to match the paper!  I added a sentiment and a glimmer snowflake, a Pumpkin Pie mat, and it was done!

I love the cross-stitched sentiments in this set!

This past week at Cassidy's school, we had career day, patriotic day and I am not sure what "day" this one was....but she got on the bus with her pony tails colored in three different shades!

I am calling it "Unique Day"....what do you think?!  Thanks for popping in today and be blessed!

FMS307 CAS Peace Wreath

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Another Christmas card today...when I saw the Freshly Made Sketches sketch from my sweet friend Jen, I had to make a CAS card featuring a wreath!

My card base is plain Whisper White and the wreath and holly leaves are Tranquil Tide....and aren't those little leaves cute?  Surprise--they're from the Quilt Builder Framelits!!

First, I created the wreath the Layering Circles Framelits and Lil'Inkers' Stitched Circles dies:

Then I cut three sets of holly leaves and adhered them to the wreath and added some Real Red Candy Dots for the berries.  A little scrap of Quilted Christmas DSP and a sentiment from Christmas Quilt, and it was done!!! I just love the clean and simple look of this!  Thanks for popping in!

SSC162 and JB Tic Tac Toe Santa

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I've got a vintage-style Christmas card for you today using the Sunday Stamps sketch and the Jingle Belles Tic-tac-toe prompt:

I found this cute little Santa I had printed out from a digital file long, long ago...so long ago, I can't find him again in my computer!  He worked well with the left-hand column of red, glitter and Santa!   I adhered him to a piece of cardstock and fussy-cut him out, then mounted him on a square of Mint Macaron glimmer paper and added a sentiment and sparkly bow. The card background is a paper from KaiserCraft with a bingo card from Simple Stories.  Quick and easy, almost no stamping!

I did stamp some sentiments from My Favorite Things and Holly Jolly Greetings on the inside, and it was done!

Obviously, since Cassidy is not living with us now, it's a little harder to get photos of her...plus she just doesn't want me to take her picture!  Yesterday was "Future Career Day" at school and the students had to dress up as what they wanted to be.....and she grudgingly allowed me to take a picture of her as a future rock star!!!!  Here she is playing air guitar (although she is NOT left-handed!):

And this is her "fake" mohawk, LOL!  You can't see it but there are sparkles in her hair too...very pretty!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SIP118 Anything But a Card

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge, and this is a fun one--anything but a card!

No automatic alt text available.

This challenge gave me a chance to play with the new Mini Pizza Boxes that are in SU's Holiday Catalog!  They are sturdy and fold together in a snap and are oh-so-fun to decorate!  For this Halloween one, I chose to make a sleeve that just slides on and off!  I used some Spooky Night DSP and created a rosette --haven't made one of them for a long time--and stamped some images from Spooky Cat and Pick A Pumpkin to embellish it:

(I will tell you that the rosette goes together fairly easily if you use a hot glue gun and have a circle of cardstock already punched out to which it can be adhered.  It can be tricky to get it to lay flat, but the hot glue sets quickly and stays put very well!)  The matching Patterned Pumpkin dies are fun, too!  I used some Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper from last year to create the little swirls that accent my treat box so well:

And since the Spooky Cat set is photopolymer, it's easy to line up the sentiments, which I diecut with the Stitched Shapes oval die:

And here it is, slid apart from the pizza box--hey, it's kinda cute just standing up on its own!

The SIP design team has some really cute items for you to peruse this week!  Be sure to go check them out, and we want to see your creations as well!  'Tis the season for all kinds of tricks and treats, so get busy!!

We have still had a few warm days, so Cassidy decided she was going to plant some sunflowers.  I didn't have the heart to tell her they probably wouldn't grow, and she was so intent on her chore, I just let her go:

I'll keep you posted as to their progress!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Christmas Quilt Cards

Happy Monday, peeps!  Just a quick post today--the weekend was spent painting without any stamping at all!!!  But I made these cards a couple weeks ago, experimenting with the Quilted Christmas bundle.  As I said, they were experiments, so they aren't perfect!

I wanted to use some warm country colors for my first card, so I used Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso ink and cardstock on top of a Crumb Cake base:

I did find that even though you can see through the clear stamps, I had better luck lining them up with my stamp-a-ma-jig (because I was too lazy to set up my Misti!!).

My second card used the Quilted Christmas DSP stack; I wasn't thinking when I separated all my little pieces, that when I put them back together again, I should have matched up the plaids!!!  My home ec teacher from 8th grade would be tsk-tsking at me!  Next time I'll do better!  I did back the DSP with an adhesive sheet to make sticking them down easier, but I found that adhering the frame to a larger piece of adhesive sheet, stick side up, made putting the pieces on a little easier, and you wouldn't have to peel off all those tiny pieces!

I also used the Quilt Top embossing folder, which is just delightful!  There are so many more elements to this bundle, I can't wait to play with them....but I think there aren't  enough hours in the day!

So a few of you have asked how the remodeling is coming along!  It has been a long slow process; we got walls painted but the furniture is all askew, so I won't show you pictures of that!  The cabinets finally arrived last week and my brother helped John put a couple of them up temporarily, but there is a lot of work just to get to that point!  Leveling:

Checking out the pantry and the drawers inside:

and finally attaching them temporarily:

The wall color looks green here, but it's really a bluish-gray.  In different lights it looks totally different!  There is still a LOT of work left to do, but we're getting there.  Not sure if it will be done by Thanksgiving or Christmas - we'll see.  I might need to be wearing my woolies to get my coffee from the garage if not!!

Thanks for popping by and have a blessed day!  And be sure to come back tomorrow for my Stamp Ink Paper project!

Paper Players 363 Sketch from Nance

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Nance is our hostess with the mostest at the Paper Players today and she has a sketch that I just LOVE!  So many possibilities here:

I was able to play with Painted Harvest some more and paired it with some Painted Autumn DSP:

And yes, I snuck some more Lemon Lime Twist into my creation....although I would never think to pair it with Cajun Craze, it works!!!  My mat was stamped with the Burlap background stamp on a panel of Crumb Cake.  I stamped the first layer of my floral in Crumb Cake...I actually stamped it twice, turning it a wee little bit to get some extra petals.  Then I stamped the top layer with Cajun Craze and the center with Crumb Cake again, then fussy-cut it out.  I added the little dots on my white panel; I felt they sort of complemented the little dots on the DSP; then I added a sentiment from Jar of Love atop a burlap banner.  Since the burlap is sort of see-through, I added a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to the back to solidify it a bit:

And I really didn't intend to add the acorn, but I was just playing around with it, and when I laid it on top of my flower, it looked sort of cute, so I adhered it with some mini dimensionals!

I hope this sketch gets your imagination going and you'll play with us this week!  Check out what the designers did as well:

You won't be disappointed!

Cassidy stayed with us the night of Wayne & Dana's wedding and went to church with us the next morning.  As a special treat, we made pancakes, which she insisted on learning how to do!  She did very well, too, learning how to heat up the griddle first,  waiting until the pancake edges get dry and the bubbles start to pop, then of course, learning how to flip them!!!  Grampy had to wait patiently in the background! We need a little more practice, but she wants to show Mommy how to do it now!!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Purple Leaves

Remember the song Purple Rain?  Well, this is my card, Purple Leaves!  I really have ignored this season's In Colors and I wanted to remedy that, so I thought I would make a fall card using Fresh Fig and some other purple hues; purples are difficult for me, so this was a real personal challenge:

I started by stamping a bunch of the little leaf image from Colorful Seasons in different shades and diecutting them with their matching die.  I then put them in a Jar of Love jar, added a little lid, a tag and some linen thread:

Even though these may not be traditional fall leaf colors, I think they're so pretty!  I added a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet and a leftover leaf on the inside of the Crumb Cake card, too:

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy and be blessed!
