Sweet Pea Trio

When I first received SU's new Sweet Pea Designer Paper pack, I thought, "What in the world am I going to do with some of these pages?"  If you're a scrapper, there are lots of cool pages for layouts.  If you're a cardmaker, you may think that those pages will just go to waste.  I wanted to make a few cards with those exact pages just to show my customers that with very few supplies, you can make some awesome cards with those pages. 

Basically, I just cut the portion of the 12x12 sheet that had the main focus on it, into a 4"x5 1/4" sheet, mounted it onto a coordinating color card and added a rub-on sentiment.  So let's look & see.  Here is a full sheet of DP:

I trimmed the corner down to the size I wanted, added a couple layers, a rub-on sentiment from Autumn Harvest, and faintly stamped a little silhouette from Pocket Silhouettes on the panel.  I added a Pumpkin Pie flower punched from the Boho Blossoms punched, stamped it in Craft White with the polka dots from IBBG and added a large brown brad for this quick effect:

Even easier is the next one: no stamping at all!  JUST a rub-on sentiment:

Oops, I lied.....I did line the interior of the card and stamped a tiny little bit:

Finally, I did do this one up a little more with some heat embossing of the Medallion stamp and a little tag cut with the Modern Label punch and using the Teeny Tiny Wishes set:

Life Happens with Teal

The SCS Clean & Simple challenge today was to use teal with one other color. I so wanted to bling or glitter up this little chick, but resisted, so it is pretty much clean and simple!

Another Christmas card to add to my stash for 2010! This week's uses Kristin's lovely JUGS Color Challenge #16:

I used a retired SU set called To You & Yours and a CHF sentiment from Christmas Expressions. Both were stamped in Versamark first, then SU classic inks and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The dove was watercolored with Blush Blossom ink and liberally sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter! So pretty! Some BG Wassail papers complemented the Bravo Burgundy card which was also wheeled with the Baroque Borders wheel. A little bling is always nice---this adds just a little touch of special!

Butterfly Happiness

Today's card uses the color challenge from Stampin' Royalty Challenge#2 and the sketch from Stamping 411:

I pulled out a set I haven't used in a while, Flight of the Butterfly. I just love how this card turned out, crisp, clean and easy; I need a couple belated birthday cards, so this is how these will be used. Thanks for looking today! Hostess Gifts

I love giving my club hostesses something a little extra special! This month, I cased an idea from Michelle Wooderson (Mish Mash), who always makes these cute little kits with basic cards or bookmarks, then includes lots of little embellishments to decorate them yourself. Mine are no where near as cute as hers, but I think my girls enjoyed what I came up with:

Each little kit comes with four 3x3" cards & envies plus some DP, heart cut-outs, ribbon and sentiments to play with, all in a sweet little Top Note container! Here are a few photos:

So what do you think? Do you want to know how to make this? Here you go, real quick (this sample is a little different from the above one, as I made two):

Cut two Top Notes and score them 7/8" along the LONG side. Cut 2 pieces of cardstock 1" x 2 5/8" and score 7/8" from each end, as shown below. It's a good idea to decorate your front now, before adhering all the pieces together.

Adhere the scored pieces of the Top Note together at the bottom fold; I like to use clothes pins to hold them together while they dry.

Now adhere a side tab to the inside of the Top Note, one on each side, next to the point:

And then adhere the other side of the side tab to the other Top Note; again, I used clothes pins:

I prefer to use the Tombow Multi Liquid Glue for these projects; it dries fairly quickly but you still have a few seconds of wiggle room time to move your pieces, unlike Sticky Strip! Then you can fill your little box with whatever you want! Hope this inspires you to make one too!

Everything But The Kitchen Sink

Challenge.....whew, that's a mouthful! This cute little blog has a nice sketch challenge this month:

and the SCS challenge from yesterday was to use a bird; the SCS challenge today was to make a tiny card & treat. Okay, I already messed up the tiny card because I used too many layers...so we'll just forget about that one. So here's my tiny (anyway) card, which neatly fits into the new small glassine envelopes that SU has in the mini catalog:

The card is 2 1/4"x4"; cardstock is Bashful Blue, Basic Black & Certainly Celery; DP is from Cosmo Cricket and the images are from My Cute Stamps. Sentiment is from MFT. I stamped on the little envy with Stazon and colored it with SU markers, then dried it with my heat tool....seems to be staying put and is very cute! Now I NEED to get off the computer, quit playing and get ready for stamp club! Bye!
