I Hate Stickles!!!....

DSCF6160

I love glitter, hate stickles.  Does anyone have the same problem with them?  They look great when applied, and dry dull, dull, dull.  Anyway, I was playing around with my Cool Yule set from MFT, and I had a leftover image on my desk, so I decided to play around a little!  After watercoloring him in, I added stickles to his body and scarf......

From this angle, he looks pretty cute, but IRL.....that scarf looks pretty awful.  If anyone has any hints as to how to apply these so they maintain their sparkliness, give me a shout.   Anyway, this will be a gift card holder for some cold, hard CASH---given with warm wishes!  My niece will love it, I am sure!  And here's a little peek at a recycled bag that I filled with cookies for my favorite man in brown:

My sweet friend Harriet gave me some of these wonderful reindeer images, so I have been putting them to good use:

No stickles here!  Although the bag may look black, it was a beautiful deep green....very pretty!!  I am sure he was more interested in what was inside, however!  Thanks, Harriet!
If you have any questions about any of the images or supplies I've used, give me a shout!  Gotta run---a busy day and SNOW IS COMING!  WOOHOO!  I am so excited!  I am hoping it will be a white Christmas!  Blessings to you all!

CTD#73, Part Two

Yesterday, I said I would share with you the simple little holder I made for my sister's set of thank you cards.  I really did not "plan" this very well, didn't check SCS for any tutorial, I just sort of started folding and trimming and punching holes and adding brads and cutting slits....well, you get the picture.  So if it seems a little bulky or bumpy, well, it won't be that way for long, because she's going to USE these cards and soon it will be empty!  So here we go:

Now remember, these are the CTD colors:

And here are a few other views:

I used  textured Riding Hood Red, some more of that yummy BG Urban Prairie DP (it's almost gone--horrors!) along with a matching brad, some stitched ribbon and sentiments from PTI.  Now I'll wrap it all up and one more thing will be checked off my list!  If you have any questions, please leave me a comment!!  Have a blessed day!

Color Throwdown #73

DSCF6118

Woohoo!  Today is the last Throwdown of 2009!  The CTD girls will be taking a break until January, so make sure you check out the CTD blog to see all the details of this last challenge!  Some good stuff out there today!

Tammy is our hostess this week and when I first saw these colors, I thought "Uh-oh!"  (She likes to challenge me!)  But when I looked through my Basic Grey papers, I found some perfect ones to make my project!  So let's go!

My other DS (not this one) will be celebrating a certain milestone birthday next week!!!  So I know she will be needing some thank-you cards, and she loves my cards and is one of my biggest fans, so I decided to make her a set of matching cards as her gift!  My stamp set today is from There She Goes and it is called An Act of Kindness.  I LOVE THIS SET!!!  I just kept playing and playing with it, I could have gone on forever.  Okay, enough gushing, on to the cards:

This set uses BG's Lemonade paper.....yummy!

And this set uses BG's Urban Prairie---sweet!

Since I was making several cards, I chose a very simple design.  Each 6x6 piece of BG paper was cut in half twice, mounted on a piece of Real Red cardstock, then on either a Kiwi Kiss or Cool Caribbean mat and finally mounted on a SU notecard.  Using the notecards, which are precut and prescored, saved LOTS of time!  I stamped on the envies too, just for fun! DSCF6128-1 The sentiment is stamped in Always Artichoke.  A final pop of a Real Red-stamped flower, punched out with a 3/4" circle punch and jazzed up with a tiny little rhinestone, finished them off.   Stop back tomorrow for a peek at the little folder I am making in which to present them to her!

Here are a couple closeups:

And just out of curiosity, do you like the white background or the black background for these photos?  Just for fun, let me know what you think!
Now, be sure to go to the CTD blog and check out what all the other designers have come up with this week.  Post your card on your blog or an online gallery, then link it back to Mr Linky on the CTD blog.  I thoroughly enjoyed making these and I hope you have fun too!

Diva Coffee Break Designs #158

DSCF6137

Today's DCBD Challenge is a color challenge, and a very pretty one at that:

DCBD158

I was able to use some of my new goodies from the upcoming SU mini catalog, as my favorite "man in brown" pulled in JUST before I sat down to make my card!  I am IN LOVE with the new clear-mount stamps.  Just heaven to hold that whole entire stamp set in a nice slim case!!!  So here ya go:

DSCF6139

I have used the Fall to Layout #72 for this clean & simple-style card:

FTL72

and if you love designer papers, baby, this is the sketch for you!  I realized I had no Old Olive DP, so I pulled out a piece of  Bella Bleu in the Sahara Sand shade, along with my sponge brayer and my OO pad, and I just brayered some color right over top of that Bella Bleu!  Tada!  Old Olive designer paper!  The whole shebang is mounted on a Whisper White mat, then adhered to a card of textured Old Olive.  The sentiment from Always is stamped in Chocolate Chip on a narrow strip of Whisper White which I fed through the Word Window punch and just punched the ends.  A new Chocolate Chip Epoxy brad adds a sweet little embellishment.  And oh, the new stamps!!!  The hearts are from "I {Heart} Hearts!! So cute!  Stamped in the same colors as the DP, cut out and mounted on the Rose Red Stitched Ribbon.

So be sure to check out the DCBD blog to see what the other designers have come up with!  We'd love to have you play along---you can post your card to your own blog or online gallery, then link it back to Mr Linky there at the Diva blog!  Have fun!

Nothing to Show.....

I have nothing to show you today....I have been stamping, but it's for tomorrow's Color Throwdown, the last of the year, and for the Diva Coffee Break Challenge!  But I did want to toot my horn a little bit!  I was chosen the Colour Queen over at Arielle's blog, Colour Q!  She chose this project as the winner for week 10!  How fun!

Also, my friend Caryl has some sweet little blog candies she is giving away at her blog, Stamps 'n Stitches......you NEED to go check it out!

Later, peeps!

CAS Curves

Today's SCS Challenge was a breeze as I already had this card done but never posted it:

DSCF6084-1

The challenge is to use a curve somewhere on your card.  For this one, I cut a curved template from some scrap paper, saving both pieces.  I stamped the tree from Flourishes using one part of the template as a mask; I then laid the other part of the mask OVER the tree and sponged my snow.  Added some glitter and a sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms in Rich Razzleberry, and it was done.  This was made for a friend who ordered some Christmas cards from me, and it was my favorite one out of the bunch!  Doesn't that RR look great on Kraft?  I think I may have to use that again!  Thanks for visiting today!

Pioneer Woman

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend....we did, although yesterday was rainy and dreary, we still managed to get in two good nights at our church's Live Nativity....hopefully I can share some photos later.  But the highlight of the weekend was when my sister and I went to a book-signing at a local bookstore.....yep, the wonderful Ree Drummond from Pioneer Woman was there, and she is just as sweet and funny IRL as she is on her blog.  DS told me about this a couple weeks ago and I could hardly stand the wait!  (Forget Santa Claus!)  But just as she was signing our books, my sister's camera died!  So a sweet PW fan behind us snapped one with her camera and through the marvel of internet technology, here we are:

Pioneer Woman

So now I need to actually go cook something from her yummy cookbook!
