Hi peeps! Hope you all had a good weekend...it seems like I totally skipped Monday, although I did have a fun class with some of my stamping friends! But Tuesday is here, and our Stamp Ink Paper challenge for this week is "Mother's Day"!
I thought it would be fun, since I've been making CAS cards for the last few posts, to add some layers and doodads to my card today! I found a great sketch at Mojo Monday, and the Retro Rubber challenge wants buttons along with a stamp at least a year old!
I didn't do a romantic or traditional Mother's Day card...my mom and grandmothers are all gone so it's not a holiday for which I traditionally make cards! One thing I do remember about my mom and my grandmother, is that they both passed along a love of needle arts to me. So I thought a sewing-themed card would be fun! Not only did I use some retro stamps, I used some retro papers as well! I pulled out some really old Cosmo Cricket papers from the Material Girl line, along with a Paper Smooches set called Needle Little Love, which I believe is from 2014:
Everything except "mom" is from the PS set; it is from SU's Labeler Alphabet, and everything is stamped in Basic Black. I arranged all the layers using papers from the pad, and piecing some of the images and fussy-cutting them out! I added paper buttons to the button panel, so it will mail nice and flat!!
I just love this little cross stitch border...and did you check out the stamped needle above?! Cute!
On the inside, I did stamp a Mother's Day sentiment from last year's Paper Pumpkin, then added another sentiment from the PS set....I don't usually do that, but I like that cute little sentiment!
SO, would you like to receive this card? Since I won't be sending this to anyone, I'm going to do a little giveaway! Leave a comment on this blog post (please, no anonymous comments as I have no way to contact you) and I will pick a random comment on Friday, May 5 and that commenter will receive my card! Please, only US and Canada addresses, sorry....sometimes it takes over a week for mail to reach its destination and I don't want it to arrive after Mother's Day! Just make sure your comment is connected to an email address so I can email you for your snail mail address!
Be sure to check out the other Design Team members' creations at Stamp Ink Paper too...and I can't wait to see YOURS in the gallery as well!
My sweet friend Linda shared these cute little butterfly-embellished Hershey's nugget favors at my Cards & Coffee class yesterday:
Cassidy was all smiles when I told her she could have a couple!

I'd be all smiles too with the beautifully covered chocolate candies! They are such a fun idea! Love your Mother's Day card, LeAnne! Those pretty papers are just perfect for this special Mom's Day card! Awesome job with the challenges! TFS and enjoy this nice weather today! :)
OMG LeAnne - this card is spectacular! I always give cards to my daughter-in-laws that are mothers - they gifted me with my wonderful grandchildren right? Don't have any daughters, but I really do appreciate my dil's! I am also grateful to have wonderful aunts and a mother (she's stubborn but I love her just the same). Lots of great female inspiration in my family! My mom was the only girl (she had 6 brothers!), but my dad had 3 sisters that I adore! I have 3 granddaughters who are (luckily) not old enough to make me a great-grandmother yet! I really see Mother's Day as a chance to celebrate all the wonderful women in my life and luckily there are many! ~chris
Love the fun layers LeAnne! Those butterflies sure are cute too!
Such a cute card! I would love to win and forward it on to my crafty MIL.
Your card is so cute, and would be perfect for my mom. She loved all things crafting, and we loved to sew, especially as a group. We would get the sisters together and we'd make pajamas or tshirts or shorts for all the kids. We'd pick out sizes, and put some to cutting, others to sewing, others pressing, someone pinning. We'd sew all day and have such fun. We still do it once in a while.
Mom was such a crafter, but not a good finisher. We teased her that when she died we were going to just hang a plaque outside her door that said "Dorothy's Half Done Shop...she started it, you finish it" I guess we are all like that.
Such a darling card. Love all the little sewing elements. And such fun nugget favors. So glad you could join us for Mojo Monday.
Such a clever idea to link the buttons to stitchery! You've used such lovely colours and you have a great knack for layering different papers without them competing with each other. It's very satisfying to raid the stash and create something lovely, isn't it? I like that your 'retro' extended to the papers as well! Thanks so much for joining us at Retro Rubber.
Love this card. And I am going to use nugget favor treat idea for my card making group that meets monthly. Thx so much.

This is so fun and flirty, LeAnne! The retro papers are a wonderful addition to the
"sewing/cross stitch" theme. Paper buttons never would have occurred to me but it certainly would help with the mailing process! Love seeing your creations in our Retro Rubber gallery as well as the shared picture of Cassidy... so sweet!!
Love your card! Very pretty. I love the sewing elements. That looks like a fun stamp set! Carmela Hubler (redscrap92@gmail.com)
LeAnne, you are a master at card making and I learn from you every card you make. Love the soft greens and prints from the retro papers you picked. That cross stitch border is really special, as well as all the other stitched elements and the needle! I would love to win your card as a keepsake reminder of my mom ( who is gone almost two years now) who taught me to sew over 60 plus years ago. Our family was poor and I made my own clothes, so sewing is special to me. Thanks for sharing your talent.
LeAnne you really outdid yourself this time! Love, love, love this card. All the sewing theme elements are such fun and so well laid out, and you totally rocked the sketch and theme challenges!
Absolutely adorable, LeAnne! I love how you took a button challenge and themed your entire card around it. You are so creative! Thanks for playing along with us at Retro Rubber and look forward to seeing you in our gallery again soon.
Hey LeAnne, always great to have you in the gallery. I love how you used the Button theme to create a sewing themed card, very clever and I love the mix of patterns and colours you have used. See you at Retro Rubber again soon. Claire DT
