It’s Tuesday and that means ColourQ! Arielle has chosen this interesting palette for us today:
I love ALL these colors, I just don’t think I ever put them together at one time! As usual, when I am stumped, I do my “lazy”-style card, and this time I pulled out an old, old SU set I got for a bargain at a yard sale; it’s called Sea Shell. I did some heat embossing, some dry embossing and some layering:
This card is 4 1/2” square; the base is stamped with the flourish from Vintage Vogue, then layered with a simple vellum layer for some softness. Each shell is stamped in Craft white, then embossed with white EP. I sponged behind each one, including the sentiment from Best Yet, in matching ink to give it some shadow and depth. They were punched out with a square scallop punch, then mounted on a larger square embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots EF, which also had been distressed a little. A simple organdy bow in the center finishes it off!
Be sure to check the ColourQ blog to see what all the other designers have come up with…..we want to see your work there too! Click on the blinkie at the right and it will magically take you right where you need to go! Thanks for visiting today, too! And stop back tomorrow for the Color Throwdown….it’s getting closer and closer to CTD100!!

I just love what you've done with this challenge! Those layered squares are so pretty and it all just works perfectly together!
I love this! When I saw the colors challenge colors I couldn't imagine how they would go together. You always do it right! This is wonderful. Not only the colors but the textures you've used here on top of one another. Just perfectly lovely!
LeAnne, the added layer of polka dot embossed matting is a fabulous backdrop to the shells. Love the size of this card, too. Gorgeous
Wow, these colors look really great together! You balanced everything so well LeAnne!
Beautiful, LeAnne! I love how you used the colors and were inspired by the photo. I love the squares and dots.
I love your card! Can we use retired stamps on this challenge? I was so disappointed when Stampin'Up! retired it! On my way to get my tooth xrayed!
Such a pretty summer card!
I just love how you color-blocked and layered the colors, LeAnne! Great card!
Great card LeAnne! I love how the squares pull together all those colors. I especially like all the little details like the shading and background embossing and I adore the touch of vellum! Beautiful!
If you listen closely, you might hear me purring! This is WONDERFUL!
Wonderful use of the inspiration piece! I love how you've added shading in the center of the squares :)

Thanks for your comment on my blog, your card is lovely for the challenge! So bright :)
I don't know how you call that card lazy.... I call it fabulous! All the great details you put into it are awesome! I'd never think to shade behind those embossed images, or tuck that layer of vellum in there! :)
