Triple Paper Players 64

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Well, fall is in the air here in PA!   The Paper Players challenge today is from our lovely Ann, and she has challenged us to use a plant or an animal on our CAS creation today!

Lesley also has a new challenge blog  called Freshly Made Sketches.  The sketches are not necessarily clean and simple, but they do need to be “clean”…no distressing or ruffles & frills!  Here is the sketch for this week:

I needed a thank you card, so I pulled out some Spice Cake paper in a color I don’t normally use and challenged myself!  Here we go:

The image is from Array of Sunshine (hostess set) and the background is a retired jumbo wheel.  The sentiment, stamped on a tag punched from the Jewelry Tag punch, is from Easy Events.  I liked this sketch SO much, I made another:

This uses French Foliage with a bow made from the new Quilted Cherry Cobbler ribbon and a glimmer brad:

and the leaf is heat embossed on Vellum cardstock:

This card is also for the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge this week, which is a fall theme.

And finally, a third (I was on a roll):

I was originally going to use Trendy Trees for my focal image, but I already had Easy Events sitting on my desk and I liked it with the combination of trees from Funky Forest, so I just watered colored the image in the same Old Olive.  I didn’t put the little element on the horizontal panel as in the sketch, but I am hoping the little heart counts!  I am not going to list all my ingredients, so if you have a question, please feel free to email me!

I had the pleasure of going to a local fair with my friend Cathy on Friday—it was a beautiful chilly day, perfect for looking at cows, sheep and pumpkins!

Monkey Sketch 74

Oh, those sweet girls Terry & Shirley over A La Card Monkey---they asked me to be a guest designer again!  Of course I said “yes”!  Here’s the sketch, with the theme “You’ve Got A Friend”:

and I was just looking for an excuse to get my new Creative Elements inky:

I hadn’t done anything vintage for a while….the Well Worn DP gave me my colors.  I first stamped the emblem image from Artistic Etchings and punched them out.  Then the floral image was stamped first in Versamark, then Night of Navy and stamped on Very Vanilla, then embossed with Clear embossing powder and shaded with Crumb Cake. 

I stamped the flourish on some First Edition DP, layered it with vellum; stamped the frame and sentiment from You’re A Gem on another piece of vellum and layered it on top.  SU’s new beautiful velvet ribbon and an Antique brad finished it off.

I haven’t done a collage-style card for a while; it’s fun to add a bunch of bits & bobs to a card.  These Cosmo Cricket papers really make it easy to mix & match.

I mixed and matched several different sentiments on the inside as well:

Big Buttons!

First, I have to preface my post with a warning:  this is a little long, and my printer, which is a photo printer, prints the WORST photos in the world.  If it weren’t for the fact that I just bought ink cartridges for ALL the colors, I would throw this thing out the window.  The first few photos I printed (several years ago) were wonderful; then boom….nothing worked; different brands of paper, different settings, nothing.  So this project could have been much better IF I had a better photo printer; suffice it to say, once the ink is gone, so is this printer.  I will gladly take suggestions, if you love your printer; I’d love to hear what you like!

OKAY, that being said, if you were fortunate enough to get a freebie bundle from SU, you might have gotten those big, honkin’ buttons in the Spice Cake colors.  PHEW….what in the world was I going to do with them?  They’re big enough to frame a picture—AHA!  Here we go, and I even used some more fabric:

This little project really is honkin’ cute, and speedy to make,  but unfortunately, it was also difficult to photograph (whine, whine).  I hope you can just imagine it….I tried to print Cassidy’s photos in sepia, after the b&w attempt came out sort of turquoise….not the effect I was looking for.  I tried a couple other things,  finally gave up, went with what I had, punched them out with a 1 1/4” punch and went to work.

I used a narrow strip of Spice Cake fabric, folded the long edges over and ironed them together with some fusible webbing.  I had some matching felt and pinked it into a strip about 10” long and hot-glued the fabric on top.  I found a D-ring (honestly, it’s probably 30 years old) and glued the strip through the ring; glued the photos to the buttons, the buttons to the strip and glued the bow to the top.  Done!

Happy Tuesday, peeps! The ColourQ challenge today is a bright cheery one---don’t you wish you had some fun bowls in your kitchen like this? Everything would taste good whipped up in these! I think I am still using mine from the 1970s—yikes! Retro, for sure!

Nothing was coming to mind for a card, so I thought I’d make a scrapbook page. 12x12 pages are daunting to me, and 6x6 wasn’t big enough for the photo I wanted to scrap, so I rummaged through my yardsale finds and came up with an 8x10 frame; although it wasn’t white, I think it still worked for my project:

It’s tough to capture something as large as a frame in a little blog space, but I hope you can see the details. All the color blocks have been embossed with various EFs. I used a couple new (to me) stamps for the sentiment and interest image:

and then added some “rickrack” from the Tasteful Trim die. A really easy quick 3D project that will look cute on my dry sink.
