AHSC623 Welcome Spring

Happy Monday, fellow stampers! Time for a fun new sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

My friend Sheilah lent me (again....but my own is on its way!) her Layers of Beauty Bundle and it seemed perfect for this sketch:

I created a gate-fold card with some Petal Pink cardstock, adding Soft Sea Foam layers to the front panels as well as some Cane Weave-embossed Basic White layerss.  I stamped and stenciled the florals in Petal Pink, Pretty in Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Soft Sea Foam and Granny Apple Green inks.  This bundle just creates the most beautiful flowers! I fussy-cut the image apart and laid the pieces in the corners of the card, overlapping them on top of an oval panel, stamped with a sentiment from Close to My Heart:

Here's a view of it, slightly open:

And a view of the inside:

It's so fun to make a card with a different fold--I tend to get in a rut!  I hope you'll play along with our pretty sketch this week--it doesn't even have to be a gate-fold card! Can't wait to see what you create, and please share it with us at the Atlantic Hearts blog!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP731 Thinking of You Tic Tac Toe

Happy Sunday, peeps! It's the fifth Sunday of the month (and that means March will finally be over!) and that also means a Tic-Tac-Toe grid at the Paper Players! And I get to be the hostess!  So here's the grid:

I chose the left column of flowers, diecut and lavender, and I also have ribbon, green and sentiment!  So here we go:

I first stamped the hyacinth from W+9's Spring Blessings, and diecut it with the Every Day Arches die, adding a Garden Green arch behind it.  Everything went on a piece of Perennial Lavender DSP and a Highland Heather card base.  I did a little ruffled ribbon as well as a Papertrey sentiment.

On the inside, I added a nest and some eggs from the same set along with an Easter sentiment:

There are dies to go with this set, but I chose to fussy-cut the eggs as I didn't like the white border, LOL!  But I do love this layered stamp set!

I hope you'll find something that tickles your fancy on our tic-tac-toe grid this week, and that you'll make something fun and creative to share with us at the Paper Players blog!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

Love & Joy Christmas Shaker

Happy Friday, peeps! A quick post as I am hosting a ladies luncheon today to celebrate a dear friend's birthday! And it's a surprise!  So let's go!  The 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge is a shaker card, and as much as I love them, they're always a challenge to me!

I thought the new Flip Flap window envelopes that are used for scrapbooking might be a fun choice to use for the shaker portion, so I gave it a try. So here we go:

I started by diecutting a tree from a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock, then embossing the panel with the Snowflake Sky embossing folder. I used a piece of Mintay's Merry Little Christmas paper in a snowflake pattern to insert inside one of the top-loading Flip Flaps and filled it with sequins.  I trimmed the adhesive flap so that it would adhere on the inside of the pocket and attached it to the back of the card front.  Of course, no matter what you use to hold your sequins, gravity insists that they collect at the bottom of your card, LOL!  I added a glimmer star at the top, and everything went on a Soft Sky card base with a little sentiment from Greetings of the Season:

And on the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Peaceful Season:

It does look nice when you shake it, but you'll have to take my word for it!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS679 Monochromatic Thank You

Happy Thursday, all! I have a quick monochromatic card today using the FMS sketch:

What a great sketch by Karren! I haven't used Azure Afternoon lately, and I have a whole pack of Brights DSP that's going to be retiring soon, so I pulled out a floral piece, did a bit of fussy cutting and came up with this:

I used the Spotlight on Nature dies to cut an Azure Afternoon circle and backed it with a white circle, then stamped a sentiment from Bright Borders on a Every Day Details diecut circle.  I fussy cut some leaves from the same paper and tucked them behind:

Did you know that you can use your Blends to customize white ribbon to match your projects? I used a Light Azure Afternoon Blend to color a little piece of white ribbon and added it to the top of my sentiment! So fun!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI344 Hippity Hoppity

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  The As You See It sketch has THREE elements--woohoo, I love those threes!  I just had to play along!

I just got this Simon Says Stamp Easter set in the mail and couldn't wait to get it inky!  Here we go:

This was an uber-simple card to make!  I used a mat of Pretty in Pink with some Wildflower Birthday gingham paper, cut with the Perennial Postage dies, then stamped my eggs in Pretty in Pink, Balmy Blue and Soft Sea Foam.  Isn't this sentiment the cutest?

Another sentiment and wee little egg went on the inside:

So cute! I can't wait to play with this set some more!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

Hello Friend

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I'm on the fence about my card today! I used the colors from Creative Colour Challenges as well as the sketch from Sketch Saturday:

So here we go:

I used several sets here! The bird and sentiment are from Country Birdhouse and the background behind it is Elements of Text.  I stamped the bird in Basic Gray and colored him in with Soft Sea Foam a wee bit of Lost Lagoon ink.  The little leaf is from Iconic Imagery.  I added some embossed and diecut layers, and the mat is Every Day Happiness.  The final embellishments are some matte dots and some gray gingham ribbon:

The gray was the hardest to incorporate; hope there's enough here to qualify, LOL!  It was fun to put together anyway! And speaking of birds, I haven't shown my almost-favorite guy who visited my suet yesterday:

My feeder is right outside my craft room window, but there is a screen, so it's not perfectly clear, but regardless--isn't he impressive?  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC622 Sweet Merry Christmas

Happy Monday, peeps! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I pulled out some papers I got last year on sale and made a Christmas card:

The background and two of the banners use papers from the Christmas Paper Collection 2014 from Divinity Designs; the pale pink and blue are from Mintay's Merry Little Christmas.  That adorable  little sentiment banner is from a company called Gummiapan and it is as cute as can be!  There is a little star opening on the end, which I backed with a sliver of white glimmer paper, although you can't see it here:

I added some star sequins as well as some Glittered Organdy Ribbon, which has some pretty pink and blue glitter in it!  Finally, the inside, stamped in Riding Hood Red, from Greetings of the Season:

It feels good to add another Christmas card to my stash!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week...you can see all the designers' projects on Wednesday, but you can play along now!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP730 Floral Birthday

Happy Sunday, everyone! Ann is our super hostess at the Paper Players this week and she has a wonderful sketch--such a versatile one, too!  Here we go:

I still had a paper pad from Not 2 Shabby on my desk, and I just fell in love with these florals! I needed a birthday for a very special friend, and this fit the bill:

This is a case of letting the papers do all the work! I simply layered the pieces on a white card base, gave the floral panel a Pebbled Path mat, and stamped the sentiment from Country Birdhouse on another scrap of the paper!  I did add a tiny little scalloped mat behind my floral circle as well as some iridescent sequins that are barely visible!

I stamped another sentiment on the inside in retired Blushing Bride:

And it is already winging its way to my friend!

I hope you'll play along with this awesome sketch.  The design team has done some amazing work with it, so I hope you'll pop over to the Paper Players blog, check them out, then share yours with us too!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

JAI743 Thinking of You

Happy Friday, peeps! I have a quick little card today that uses the sketch from Just Add Ink:

If anything has three elements, I am a fan!  I guess I must be longing for the ocean and warmer days, because this was where my mind went:

I used a Basic Beige card base, embossing the lower front portion with the retired Seaside embossing folder.  The upper portion is from the pretty Everyday Happiness.  My images are from a CTMH set; each little beachy element was stamped in Lost Lagoon on Basic Beige cardstock, very lightly colored with a blender pen, then mounted on another circle of Basic Beige:

There's a wee bit of Wink of Stella there, too, which you can never see in the photo!  I created a sentiment banner using a past Paper Pumpkin set, and added the matching sentiment on the inside:

We have a busy weekend planned, so I'll make this short!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Thinking of You

Happy Thursday! I have a sort of experimental card for you today; for the life of me, I cannot find the blog on which I saw this technique done! I thought I saved it but can't find it, so if someone knows, let me know and I will give the proper credit!

Anyway, it involves stamping an open artwork stamp in white ink on kraft or Crumb Cake cardstock,  heat embossing it, then coloring in the image with watered-down white ink.  After drying, you can re-color overtop of the white ink to achieve a brighter color than if you were just to do it directly on the brown cardstock.  So I experimented with the You Are Remarkable floral, using the FMS sketch and the Color Throwdown colors:

So here we go:

So, as I said, this was defnitely experimental!  I first stamped one of the text images from Elements of Text in Crumb Cake ink on the Crumb Cake panel.  I stamped and embossed the floral image, then filled it in with white ink and an aquapainter (wish I had taken a picture of it!).  It is easy to fill in because the embossing keeps the ink in place! After it dried, I colored it in with Blueberry Bushel, Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green inks, also with an aquapainter.  I love this effect! The part I am not crazy about is the sponging I did around the flower with Pecan Pie ink....I would definitely change that if I did it again.  I added a sentiment from Happiest of Days, diecut everything with the Perennial Postage die and adhered it to a Misty Moonlight mat and a Basic Beige card.  I threw on a few sequins from my stash for fun.

This was definitely a fun technique and I'll be giving it a go again!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

SSC356 Blessed

Happy Tuesday, everyone! On Sunday, we welcomed three young ladies (their average age was ten!) as members of our church!  To welcome them, I used the Sunday Stamps sketch and made each one a card.  Here's the sketch:

Each one was a wee bit different, but here's one of them:

I used images from the retired Sweet Stuff, stamping them in Smoky Slate and coloring them with markers and Wink of Stella.  The sentiment is from Paper Sweeties' Blessed:

Some sweet papers from Not 2 Shabby worked well with my images, and I did add a wee little bit of embossing at the bottom of the card!  Now to get them off in the mail!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC621 Floral Sketch

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you had a good weekend!  The Atlantic Hearts Sketch this week is certainly a fun one, as it always is!

Since I already had a couple of Unity sets out on  my desk from yesterday's card, I decided to use the large zinnia image instead of actual circles. Here we go:

I stamped the flowers three times around the edges in Peach Pie, using an Old Olive market to color in the stem.  I added an older Easter sentiment, also stamped in Old Olive, and diecut with the Everyday Arches die, then mounted it on a Peach Pie card base:

I made another card while I was at it, using a sentiment from Charming Sentiments, diecutting it with the matching die and using an Old Olive card base.  I backed the sentiment with a matching "shadow", and I also colored in the lady bugs with a Lemon Lolly marker; just a different look:

The sentiment was placed in a different location too, and I added some speckles from Country Birdhouse for fun:

I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week!  You can see all the DT submissions on Wednesday, but feel free to play along right now!  Can't wait to see what you create!

PP729 CAS Challenge from Joanne

Happy Sunday, all!  Joanne is our Paper Players hostess with a fun Clean-and-Simple challenge!  Remember, those CAS challenges are to keep things simple....a minimum of layers and doodads!  In fact, Joanne just wants us to use one stamped image!!

I received a lovely set of images from Unity back last March and had not used this particular one, so I thought it was a good time to get it inky:

I stamped the image in Real Red, and I did add a bit of blender-pen coloring to the geraniums, but really, the image is so detailed, it doesn't need it.  I added another Unity sentiment, "hello" as well as a few sequins:

And a sweet sentiment on the inside as well:

It is fun to do a CAS card like this occasionally, heaven knows I have enough stamps that would fit the bill!  How about you?  What can you do with just one stamped image?  I'll bet you can do more than you realize!  Show us your CAS creations over at the Paper Players blog and check out what the Design Team created as well!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
