Winter Schminter

Happy Tuesday, all! I have an uber-quick card for you today; it's for two challenges!  The Addicted to CAS challenge wants to see a sweater, and the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge is a sketch:

I have a fun little sweater die that I pulled out, along with some scraps of paper from my stash; here we go:

I actually cut two sweaters from some retired Soft Sky cardstock and "stretched" it to make it fit under the sentiment banner a wee bit!  A little faceted embellishment tied to the colors of the plaid strip.  The strips were diecut with the Taylored Expressions Easy Strips Stitched dies; they make for a nicely-finished edge, I think! The sentiment is from Whippersnapper; it's an oldie from 2008!

The top inside sentiment is from the same Whippersnapper set; the birthday one is from Paper Pumpkin:

A fun wintry birthday card for my stash!  Thanks for stopping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC650 Vintage Santa

Happy Monday, peeps!  After a whirlwind weekend, I am ready to hunker down and clean up my craft room---and the rest of my house, LOL! But we had beautiful weather and it was a lovely weekend!

It's time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I saw a cute challenge at Peace on Earth:

And I knew I just had to find a vintage Santa to use for the sketch! So here we go:

I believe this digital image came from the Graphics Fairy, and I printed my Santa on some sturdy computer paper, then fussy-cut him out and mounted him on a stitched square of Basic White cardstock.  I found some fun  candy cane paper to mount it all on, adding a few diecut holly leaves and a heat-embossed sentiment:

This vintage sentiment from Flonzcraft seemed to work with my vintage Santa:

I think this sketch is very versatile and could be used for most any occasion or image!  I hope you'll play along with us at Atlantic Hearts this week!

Cassidy enrolled in Life Sciences class this year as an elective, and she had to take a baby home for the weekend!  This is "Elisha"!  He cries, needs to be fed and have his diaper changed!

Apparently his eyes don't close, however!!!  She said he awakened her three times on Friday night, but only once on Saturday night.  It was interesting watching her take care of him at church on Sunday! He certainly got a lot of attention!  But I think she'll be glad to turn him in on Monday!!!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP758 Trick or Treaters

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Claire is our wonderful Paper Players hostess this week and she has a fun challenge for us:

How cute is this!!!  I pulled out a really old SU stamp--this was in the first catalog I ever had--1999!  It fit Claire's challenge perfectly, and gave me a chance to do some watercoloring (okay, a LOT of watercoloring!)....here we go:

I know this whimsical style of artwork isn't as popular as it used to be, but I still love it!  I stamped these little trick-or-treaters in Black Stazon ink and used lots of colors of ink to color them in:

They were mounted on a piece of purple plaid paper from Honey Bee, which was diecut with the Stitched With Whimsy die; I added a diecut sentiment, a little spider web, and I even pulled out a little black bat brad that I have had forever!  Here's the inside sentiment---and it's actually the name of the set:

I wonder if anyone else remembers this set?  How far back does your stamping collection go?  I am showing my age for sure, LOL!  Anyway, I hope you have some Halloween costumes in your stamp collection and you'll use it over at the Players for our challenge this week!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI358 What I Like About Fall

Happy Friday, all!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a great one:

I pretty much like EVERYTHING about fall, but I would have to say my favorite things are PUMPKINS!!!  Any shape, size or color!  I have so many pumpkin stamps in my repetoire, it would be next to impossible to pick out my favorite!  But I do love this rustic pumpkin-themed paper from Studio Light, so it is the focus of my card today:

Aren't those pumpkins gorgeous?  And I had to use one of my new Honey Bee stamps called Blessings of Fall; I stamped it on a piece of the leftover pumpkin paper,, then backed with with another diecut of Mellow Moss and Mossy Meadow:

It went on another piece of paper from the same pad, trimmed to a banner and "stitched" with a Concord & 9th die.  The paper is so pretty, it doesn't need another thing!

And here's a second card; I was playing around with some pumpkin stencils for an upcoming class, and this piece was a "leftover", so I made it into a card as well:

The stencil is from Spellbinders; cardstock is Basic Beige and Lost Lagoon; stamps are from CTMH, Fun Stamper's Journey and Pretty Pink Posh---a mishmash, if I do say so!

I could go on and on with pumpkins---but I like fall leaves too!  I hope that you'll share your fall creations with us---we're getting ready for full swing here in North America, but maybe your fall is different where you live! Can't wait to see what you come up with!  Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

HSS473 No Stamping-Five Minute Cardinal

Happy Friday, peeps!  This card took me about five minutes to make....easy peasy!  It uses the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch:

along with some retired DSP and a cute little cardinal element:

I was talking to my friend's mom at our church's yard sale on Saturday.  She shared that she loves cardinals, and they remind her of her dad who passed away several years ago.  Now her grandkids all point out when they see a cardinal too!  I had received some cardinal elements from a sweet little online jewelry company called Chadds Ford Jewelry, (she has lovely things and wonderful customer service, too!); she always encloses a little gift of some sort when you place an order, and these were my little gift.  So I added one to the front of my card, and sent the rest to my friend's mom!  I hope they brighten her day!

A few  little enamel dots finished it off, and there isn't even any stamping on it!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS706 Fall Toadstool

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I am going into a crazy-busy weekend, trying to get a gazillion things done! Ever have days/weeks like that?  I am sure it will all turn out okay!  I did squeak in some time to play with Amy's sketch at FMS:

So fun!  I deviated from my favorite pumpkins and leaves and decided to go in a different fall direction:

I've been hoarding this fun paper for a while....it's called Painted Seasons.  I backed it with a panel of Basic Beige, then stamped some images from Terrific Toadstools.  To give them some dimension, I added some shading with ink and a blender pen, trying to make it look more like the images on the DSP:

I wanted as much of the DSP to show through as possible, so I created a vellum circle and Poppy Parade border, then added a Honey Bee sentiment!  The background is embossed with the Gathering Leaves embossing folder.  I know these toadstools are called Fly Agaric (although mine is not exactly like that one), and can make you sick, but they are so eye-catching, I'll forgive them!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
