Happy Sunday, peeps! I hope your weekend is going well! I suddenly came down with some allergy symptoms and sore throat, which is really annoying me, considering how nice of a weekend it is! All I want to do is sleep!
Anyway, our 400th Paper Players celebration continues, so if you didn't get a chance to play last week, you have another week to try! For my card this week, I went in a different "celebration" direction...this card is for a couple in our congregation who just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary! The husband happens to be my dad's first cousin, so I guess that makes him my second cousin! My grandmother was his aunt, and I can always see a family resemblance to her when I see him on Sundays, and he has never lost his sense of humor despite many illnesses! So he and his wife are very special to me! I used Brushed Gold and Chocolate Chip cardstocks to create the letters, and some beautiful Graphic 45 paper for the background on this large, but simple card:
The sentiment banner was cut with a die from the Large Numbers die, and stamped with a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet. I did a wee bit of shading with a blender pen and some Sahara Sand ink to give it a 3D effect...I just love how this looks! I backed it with another banner in Chocolate Chip as well, to give it even more depth:
SO....we hope that you'll enter your celebration creation over at the Paper Players blog, and just in case you didn't see all the sponsors and prizes, you NEED to check it out, as well as the gorgeous creations from the DT! Hope to see you there!
Last week in the pouring rain, John came out of the garage and almost stepped on this:
It was pretty unusual for a snapping turtle to come so close to the buildings...it looks like he was wanting to take a bath from the rain spout!!! Hopefully I'll have some Cassidy pictures next week, as she'll be back tomorrow! Have a blessed day!

When I saw the banner and numbers, I thought..."I have that set BUT my banner has never looked like that!" Now I know why...perfect use of shading and a back up banner. Don't you just love Graphic 45? There's just something so nostalgic about their paper. It's perfect for a 400th celebration and a 65th. I'm sure the recipients will think it's the most wonderful card they've received. Hope you enjoyed your week sans enfant :-)
ReplyDeleteJohn's not as happy with the weather as you are. He's on his solo trip from Florida to Massachusetts and is stuck in Cape May. He lost his engine south of Delaware and managed to sail up to Cape May and got towed in to the harbor. Fixed his fuel issues, but now can't get out and get going due to high seas and wind (from the wrong direction). He's only got 167 (or so) miles to go and we are both chomping at the bit for this to end. Sorry I haven't been posting comments, just been pre-occupied with the ongoing sailing saga and the grandchildren being here for the summer. Love this card and had a hard time believing that was not 3d - great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty and a great card for a remarkable celebration! I too have come down with the same symptoms, so perhaps I have an allergy I'm not even aware of yet? I'd be leary of a snapping turtle so close to the house, but I guess they need to bathe in this hot weather too! LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! Love the colours. Brilliant shading on the banner. x
ReplyDeleteGreat card....love that background paper!
ReplyDeleteCertainly a beautiful card with alot of meaning to it! Love the background paper as it does alot of the work! Glad to know i'm not the only one who is still hoarding the Brush Gold papers from moons ago! LOL You must have a fabulous stash of retired things! You took a really cool picture of the turtle under the rain spout! After the heat we've had he was probably trying to cool off! LOL Sorry you were under the weather, too! I woke up with a sore throat too Friday & Saturday. Not sure what from but it went away. Maybe tooo much AC! Glad your feeling better! Take care! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect card to celebrate such a milestone anniversary! I’m sure they loved it. That background paper is gorgeous. I hope you are feeling a bit better, as well. It’s not fun being under the weather when the weather is nice outside. Although, with that huge turtle running around out there, I might hibernate inside as well. Ha! He just looks like he was minding his own business. Lol! So glad I could join you all over the past 2 weeks! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to them on 65 years of wedded bliss! This is a handsome anniversary card!
ReplyDeleteSimply perfect! If I had seen that paper, I would have HAD to have it - it is amazing. It's so great, it doesn't need much and so the big number and banner, with their subtle shadows, are just right.
ReplyDeleteLove that paper LeAnne but that banner - oh my! It looks fabulous and definitely something I need to try as it adds so much dimension and depth, can't quite believe it's just ink and creative use of a blender pen! What a great CAS card for a special birthday.
ReplyDeleteLeAnne... absolutely love the patterned paper on your celebration card this week. I laughed at the snapping turtle (so love your family stories)...but it is a little better than the gator surprises down here!
ReplyDeleteOh LeAnne, this is beautiful! I adore that background paper and those big, bold numbers! The banner is just perfect to showcase the celebration! Now, I am LOL at that turtle. I might have a heart attack if I stepped on one! XX
