Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a great weekend! I am feeling a wee bit better, good thing, because I have my stamp clubs today! I always enjoy seeing my friends! In fact, one of them has a birthday coming up and I thought these colors at Hand Stamped Sentiments were beautiful together:
So, I made a card for her AND a card for my stash! I used a card base of Pool Party, ran it through the Tufted EF and added elements from Touches of Texture:
One thing that I love about SU's Blend markers is that you can used any color of ink in which to stamp your image, and when you color it in with the alcohol marker, it won't bleed! I stamped these in flowers and dragonfly in Smoky Slate, then colored them with Daffodil Delight and Pool Party Blends:
I added some silver thread, a banner sentiment from Perennial Birthday, and some frames cut with the Layering Squares Framelits, then added a few little Irisdescent sequins to add some sparkle! I think this color combo is a keeper!
SO, as a final phase of our house remodeling project, we will be getting a new patio in a couple of weeks. Our little maple tree in the backyard was dying and we knew it had to come down, and John wanted to get it down before the patio work started. So Saturday was D-Day; it was a sad day for me, as it provided shade for Cassidy's swing and our back yard, not to mention a perfect perch for all my birds. But it just had to go:
He and my nephew cut down the outer branches first, loaded them in the tractor bucket and hauled them to the woods. Little by little, they whittled them off:
Finally, they fastened a chain to the tractor and as John made the last cut, Bradley pulled it into the open portion of the yard:
After LOTS more cutting, this is all that's left!! John will work on this big chunk little by little. = My yard certainly looks vacant....and now all I see when I look out my kitchen window is another dead tree (which will be coming down in the fall), the shed and our ugly burn barrel!!! But we will plant some new trees and hopefully they'll grow quickly! Meanwhile, the birds have just retreated to the woods...I can still hear them chirping away!
Enjoy your day and be blessed!

You're right, those colors are so pretty together, LeAnne! I love the Tufted EF background with all the pretty elements you added. Your stamp club member will be thrilled to receive her card! That was a lot of work cutting down that tree and sad too. I hope your new trees grow quickly!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love that embossing folder! And I have hated every time we have had to cut down a tree! We live on a small city lot and have actually cut down five trees over the years.....they get too big! Wish we had lots of space like you!
ReplyDeleteGreat card! I love the way you intertwined the frames. Your coloring is perfect. I miss our Japanese Maple. It was right outside our kitchen window and it became a good climbing tree. The people who bought our house took it down. It provided too much shade for them. To each their own :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. I love these colors together and that embossed background is pretty. TFS
ReplyDeleteLove your darling card and colors! Soooo sorry about your tree. I feel the same way about mine. They’re like old friends!!! I so hope your new trees get planted very soon! A major priority for your birdies. They bring so much pleasure! Looking forward to seeing the new patio!
ReplyDeleteLinking those darling little frames is such a fabulous design idea, LeAnne! What a wonderful birthday card for your friend!
ReplyDeleteYour feathered friends will be so happy to stay around... they know how much they are loved by you!
I can't wait to watch your porch project take shape!

What a beautiful card, LeAnne! Love that Tufted EF and the frames you created with the pops of yellow on the flowers! So pretty! So sorry about the tree. We had to do that at our other house a few years back. So sad when they are slowly dying off but it's got to be done. Hopefully you can get another tree planted to take it place and bring back a place for your birds to go and some shade for your back yard. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfectly pretty summer card! Love the linked frames and sunny blooms. Yay, for the new patio, sorry about the tree!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an awesome card with clean details and style. I love the texture and the frames. It's all so perfect. Thanks for stamping with us at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Smiles, Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, this is lovely! Great card using the colors and such great elements together. I don't know if I can call it a CAS card or not! I will have to remember the frames - very cute indeed. Thank you for playing with us at Hand Stamped Sentiments and hope you will join us again soon!!
ReplyDeleteA very pretty card - I love that background - is it an Embossing Folder? I like your touch of silver thread too - I always find it tricky getting the thread to stay put! So sad about your tree - such a shame when a tree has to go. Thanks for joining us at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week. Fiona DT
