TGIF, peeps! Popping in with a quick card today for my niece who just had a little girl earlier this week! The birth caught me by surprise; for some reason I thought she was due next month, so imagine my shock when I saw the new baby on FB! But my SIL assured me all was well….I just had the wrong date in mind, LOL! This card may be a little different than most baby cards, as it uses black! But this sweet little flower from Cottage Greetings reminds me of a Mary Engelbreit flower, and she uses black liberally in her artwork, so I used it too! Here we go:
I used the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary for this week:
and the gingham from Six-Sided Sampler, punched out with a 1” punch! I used ink colors in Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky, So Saffron and Blushing Bride, then stamped the flower on each one with Stazon Black, coloring them in with markers. The sentiment is from the same set, and I embossed a wee little cross-stitch border with the retired Needlepoint Border EF! Sweet & simple for little Emma! And since I’ve used gingham again, I am entering this one in Shopping Our Stash!
My college roommate sent Cassidy a little dry-erase tablet on which to practice her letters, which she LOVES. More on that later, but here is a late-afternoon artistic moment!
Enjoy your day!
So cute! Love the little gingham backgrounds, would have never guessed you used six sided sampler. Love the sweet little floral images stamped on top, too. I'm always looking for ideas for baby cards using non-baby sets and this one is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat little flower IS very Mary Engelbreit-ish, so the black fits in nicely! I'm a fan of the gingham too! Thanks for playing along at Create with Connie and Mary!
