Happy Friday, peeps! I am glad it's the end of the week, aren't you? Today, our As You See It Challenge is a fill-in-the-blank! Here we go:
I love ALL the flowers of spring, but I remember my grandmother having lilies of the valley growing along the shady side of her house, and I would always pick some in the spring. I also remember having some Muguet de Bois perfume in high school...that's French for "lilies of the valley".... and I loved it so much, I wanted to have lilies of the valley as the flowers on my ushers' lapels when I got married! Unfortunately, my wedding date was in June and all the lilies were gone by then...and this was the pre-silk flowers era!! I still love them and have managed to grow a few in my flower bed, but first, my card:
I had no lilies of the valley stamps at all, but was fortunate to find a digital image from Marcia Hawley that was simple and easy to color! I printed it on some computer paper, colored it with Blends and then mounted it on some digital gingham paper as well. I mounted it on some Garden Green cardstock and added a sentiment and a polka dot bow, and I can't seem to create anything without a few sequins! The image was fairly large, so my card is larger than a standard A2.
I just happened to need a sympathy card for a family at church, so I stamped some sympathy sentiments on the inside and it's in the mail! I am also entering this in the Double D flower of the month challenge, as May is lilies of the valley!
And here is one wee little lily of the valley in my flower bed; they are multiplying each year, so it is a joy to see them pop up (sorry this is a little blurry):
I picked a few and had them on my craft desk...what a lovely scent! I hope you'll play along with our spring flower challenge and you will share your creation with us at As You See It! Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

Beautiful and what a sweet memory of picking them at your Grandma's house! I remember my great grandma had Sweet Williams growing along the path to her house. Love!
ReplyDeleteLove this card, LeAnne! I never think to find a digital image when I don't have a stamp that I need. So smart!! Those flowers are ADORABLE!!! So dainty and sweet. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I miss the fragrance of them. My parents had them on the shady side of the house too! What a great job you did with the digitals. What kind of printer do you have the prints gingham so beautifully? I just visited Power Poppy and there's some neat stuff there! TFS.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had a full bed of lily of the valley along her "veranda". My mom planted some in our yard, but they struggled. When we bought this house, I was thrilled to see a bed of lily of the valley on the north side. They aren't as thick as my grandma's were, but when they bloom, they are beautiful and smell so good. Your card is beautiful and brings back wonderful childhood memories! Love the green gingham too! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is just awesome LeAnne! I love Lily of the Valley and that gingham background is just perfect! Sorry you are in need of a sympathy card ... seems like that's all I've been doing lately ... ugh! OMG how sweet are your real Lily of the Valley. I need to plant some ... I used to have some at my old house but never thought to put some here ... thanks for inspiration!

How lovely - I must confess I don't think I've ever seen a lily of the valley on a card - they are my Mum's favourite spring flower too! Love that green gingham background and the frothy bow is the perfect finishing touch. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card with that beautiful flower image, the gingham backing and the dotty ribbon! I love your memories. I smelled some lily of the valley perfume and nearly fainted with the pleasure! I'm told they're really hard to grow but I think I might have a go. Yours seem to be doing well! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteI remember buying that perfume for my mom and I think I had a bottle too! Your card is lovely and you've used my favorite SU tulle ribbon! Love the real deal you've shared too. There used to be a pretty little patch of them that I would pass when walking my Max!
ReplyDeleteI adore this because that is my favorite flower! And yes I had some of that perfume! I carried Lilies of the Valley when I got married....in August. Yep flown in from Holland.......it was not a large bouquet...lol....
