RRCB151 Black, White and Red

Hey there peeps!  It's time for a new Retro Rubber Challenge where we use stamps that are at least a year old!  Here's our awesome challenge for this week:

I love black, white and red; I think it's a very elegant color combo, but I went in a different direction this week!  My sweet friend Colleen inspired me to pull out my Apron of Love (2018) bundle for today's card. She is always a great source of inspiration (as well as new purchases!) for me! Check it out:

This bundle, like so many, was only available for such a short time that I just never got to use it to its full potential!  The set of dies is chock full of fun little doodads, so I was able to use some of them on my card today!  I started by printing out a digital black gingham in a small check and diecutting the apron from it.  I just continued to add embellishments like the red-trimmed pocket, the hearts, the little banners and the silver scissors:

I used a Tasteful Labels die to diecut the sentiments:

and I used the Perfectly Wrapped (2017) for the inside:

I mounted everything on a stitched rectangle of Basic Gray and adhered it to my Whisper White card front! I just love how this turned out!  Thanks, Colleen for the inspiration!   And since this will be going to a friend, I am entering it at Always Fun Challenges, where their challenge is to make a card for a friend!

I hope you'll play along using our inspiration photo as well!  Just be sure to tell us how old your stamps are...give those older ones some love!  Thanks for popping in today!

Here are a few more pix from the Valentine project:

Stay tuned for more!

  1. So pretty & what great colors, LeAnne! I agree, this bundle was short lived and one that did not get the attention it deserved. It will live on forever in my stash! LOL Love your gingham print apron, too! Thanks for sharing! Stay warm today! Hope you did not get too much snow over your way. I think we are maybe a bit over a foot.

  2. A great way to give an under-used set some love - I like this colour combo too! I made another card using red, black and white oddments from my scrap box that I may well have to blog and link up - I am becoming slightly obsessed with using up lately!! Love watching the progress on Cassidy's mailbox too - she is making such a great job of this!!

  5. Your card is so cute and that bundle is wonderful! I agree it was so short-lived as many of them are. Your granddaughter is quite crafty too! Fun stuff! Thanks for sharing.

  7. Super card LeAnne....I am a b/w fan also....and a little red is always a good pop. Cassidy is something else....love her Valentine box. How much snow did you get? How did Cassidy figure out how to make the mail box?

  12. Aww, so glad you were inspired by my apron cards, LeAnne! I like your gingham apron very much. YOu can't go wrong with gingham, in my book. Thank you for the shout-out, too. :-D

I have to say that Cassidy and her mom are doing an *amazing* job with this mailbox. Is there textured paper on it? Looks like hammered metal. I'm enjoying watching the progress!

  14. LeAnne, as I said before, I love this die set, I don't have the stamps but having the dies only works well too.
I love the colors and design on your cute card, that apron would be lovely to have in the real.
Stay healthy and safe, my dear.
    XO
