PP526 Tic Tac Toe

Hi folks!  Wow, can you believe it's the last Sunday of January?! And we're going to get some snow today!  Yay!  It's time for a new Paper Players challenge, with Laurie as our hostess with a fun tic-tac-toe grid!  Here we go:

I usually find a couple of patterns in a package of DSP that I like a little less than the others....know what I mean?  I really like most of the SAB Paper Blooms DSP, at least the floral ones, but there is a graphic one that I just wasn't sure how to use.  When I was making encouragement cards for my TOPS friends, I noticed that the big font in the Ridiculously Awesome set might work well with that particular graphic!  So here it is:

From the tic-tac-toe board, I chose the diagonal of die-cutting, embossing and blue. I started by embossing the graphic paper with the new Stitched with Whimsy die...such a fun little border it creates! The sentiment, stamped in Night of Navy was diecut with the Stitched Nested Dies; I also cut another two more panels from Seaside Spray and stamped the little ray image on each one and added to the top of the sentiment panel  The embossed image is the heart; it was heat-embossed in white and brushed with some Wink of Stella:

I added some sequins for fun!  Finally, on the inside, I stamped another sentiment and added another embossed heart:

Another for my stash of encouragement cards!  Now, what will you create with our tic-tac-toe board?  Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see what our amazing design team created!  Then share yours with us as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

On Friday as I was in working in my craft room I heard a big "THUNK" out in the kitchen...I ran out to see if something had fallen or a picture had come off the wall, but I could find nothing!  A few minutes later I noticed this:

Not sure what bird ran into my patio door but it left quite an impression! And it wasn't injured, as it flew away! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

  1. Love your card - I always enjoy seeing blue cards! We've had bird strikes on our windows too. My parents had so many on their big, picture window that they had to hang a big stained glass sun-catcher to make it obvious that the glass was there, Jo x

  4. What a cool, great card for the challenge! I love the colors and all the angles in the design! That must have been some kind of hit the bird took on your patio door! We get that all the time, I guess reflections disorient them until they make the hit and then gather their senses and fly off again! Take care and stay warm this weekend! 11-16 inches of the white stuff predicted for us. Keeping my fingers crossed they're wrong again LOL

  5. I know what you mean about certain patterns of DSP, LeAnne, but this bold, blue patterns looks awesome paired with this bold graphic. The sequins are the perfect accents. Such a wonderful card of encouragement! And wow...it looks like a bird really did leave quite an impression on your patio door! Have a wonderful week!

  6. Oh I love that paper! But I agree, we are often attracted to some designed papers and not others. Then it's often harder to get creative with them. But not you..this is very creative..love it!

  9. Great use of that DSP. I have the same problem so once a year I gather up that paper and donate it to the Soroptomist ladies to sell. Usually, I have dove that will fly into my kitchen window but last week I had a woodpecker crash into it and it didn't survive. I had mixed emotions on it as I love birds but those pesky woodpeckers won't stay off the hummingbird feeder.

  12. I love how different cards look even when using the same tic tac toe row! I am going to take inspiration with this pattern and do a big bold sentiment instead of florals! You card looks amazing and the tone on tone is so clean looking! Have a great week!

  13. I love this LeAnne - that paper really does seem to fit that stamp perfectly!! I am enjoying all the blues this week - I'm beginnign to think blues are under-rated in the world of cardmaking!

  14. That graphic DSP had me scratching my head, too. But paired with a big, bold sentiment, it's perfection! This is such a fun card, LeAnne...the color, the whimsical frame detail and the sequins all came together beautifully. That poor bird! That happened on one of our kitchen windows a couple weeks ago. It scared me half to death! But the little bugger just got up and flew away, so I guess it wasn't too bad. Lol!
