Happy Thursday, peeps! Time for another Inspired By challenge....another purple challenge, they're beginning to grow on me, LOL! Today is a special friend's special birthday, so she deserved a special card, so here we go:
And here is Laurel's delicious challenge photo:
Oh my, doesn't that look yummy? It fit right in with my Turkey Hill Experience yesterday! I actually had a stomach ache from eating that huge serving of ice cream they gave us! But more about that later! This raspberry confection prompted me to break into Blackberry Bliss, a color I hardly ever use!!! I began by embossing my Blackberry Bliss card with the Quilt Top embossing folder, then adding a layer of Purple Posy DSP on which I stamped a birthday greeting from Botanical Bliss. I then stamped one of the sprays from Bloom and Grow on a piece of Purple Posy and colored the centers and berries with Blends before diecutting it out:
I like the frosty silver dishes that are in the picture, so I added some Silver Glimmer leaves, diecut from the same Budding Blooms dies, then added some silver thread and a silver metallic dot! On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from A Wish for Everything on a white mat and added a diecut from the Well Writen dies. Since I had a couple of scraps of Silver glimmer paper left, I punched a few hearts and added it to the sentiment, just for fun!
I hope you'll find some inspiration from the photo and share your frosty creation with us at Inspired By this week! There is still lots of summer left, let's keep it going! Can't wait to see what you create! Thanks for popping in!
I won't share all our Turkey Hill pictures today, but this is what greets you when you get there:
Yep, a big COW!!!! If you're ever in southeastern PA, you might have even seen a cow like this going down the highway on the way to a fair or parade! It's pretty well-known! The structure itself is very cool; not sure if it's an old building or just built to look that way, but I loved it!
Inside, they told the history of the area, how the dairy started and some fun facts about cows, milk and ice cream! Turkey Hill uses 40,000 gallons of milk A DAY from 8000 cows to make 72 different flavors of ice cream!!! That's a lot of milk! And a lot of cows!!! There are also all kinds of interactive things for the kids to do, like drive an ice cream truck:
and milk a cow....and yes, actual liquid comes out of the cow's teats! (It was only water!) They loved it!
I'll share some other stuff with you tomorrow! Enjoy your day and be blessed!
Beautiful card, LeAnne! I'm not a big fan of Rich Razzleberry either but it sure looks pretty here with those gorgeous flowers and silver glimmer paper! Well done!
ReplyDeleteTurkey Hill Experience is close to me. I use to live across the river from it (in Wrightsville). That big building use to be a sewing factory at one time. My mom worked there before getting married. It was pretty run down and empty for years before Turkey Hill bought & renovated it. I have not been inside the building since it was redone but we drive by it when we went to our old doctor. There is also a Turkey Hill store right beside it! I've seen that big cow going down the highway many of times and what a sight! We love Turkey Hill products especially their ice cream and my uncle actually worked at the Turkey Hill farm years ago. The kids looked like they enjoyed it! Can't wait to see the rest of your pictures! TFS
LeAnne, your card is really wonderful - your friend will adore it, too!
ReplyDeleteI had an email chat this week about ice cream for breakfast, which took me down memory lane to the best frozen treat I ever had... in Philadelphia … mango sorbet!! You Pennsylvanians really know how to treat a gal!

I am not a fan of ice cream but the photo inspiration sure does look delicious. Turkey Hill looks so fun and I can't wait to hear more. Cows, who can't help but love them! You are a blessing to me!
