Hi everyone! Hope you're having a good weekend....finally have some sunshine but my heart is breaking for all of those affected by Hurricane Florence! My sister, who lives on an island off Charleston, SC, is fine, blessedly! Prayers going out to all!
Sweet Claire is our Paper Players hostess this week with a Clean and Simple challenge, thankfully, as it was a busy week for me and this fit my schedule perfectly! So here we go:
So anyone who knows me fairly well knows I do NOT do sports...I do like to swim, but I don't like to get my hair wet....I played volley ball a long time ago with some friends but I wasn't very good....and forget about RUNNING for any sport! I am more of a reading/crafty/homebody type, and I might watch a football game with John if I have my cross-stitch nearby!! I know that Claire loves to play tennis, and I actually think this is a great challenge, because the only sports-type stamps I have are masculine and I ALWAYS need masculine cards! So here's my take on her challenge, using an old and a new stamp, a few ink colors and one layer of cardstock:
I used Linda's Freshly Made Sketches sketch for my layout:
The three lines on the left side are from a new set called Gallery Grunge, and they were stamped in Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Cool Caribbean; I masked off part of the image to get the sizes I needed. I stamped some speckles from Gorgeous Grunge in Cool Caribbean, then stamped my surfer from Extreme Surfboard in Bermuda Bay. I did add a few Clear Epoxy Drops from the Holiday Mini catalog to add some "splash"!!!
I think this is a great image for a guy's birthday card! Be sure to check out what the Paper Players DT did with this challenge at the PP blog, then make sure to post your clean-and-simple creation there too! Can't wait to see what you make!
And here are a few more pix from around the yard a couple of weeks ago, since it's been raining so much, Cassidy and I haven't been outside for over a week!

A little frog hiding in our creek:
A pretty little flower; it's just a weed, but still pretty:
And in the brutal world of nature, it's spider eat grasshopper...or maybe it's a cicada, I can't tell:
Enjoy your day and be blessed!

What a fabulous CAS card LeAnne - I love the way you layered those stamps to create your scene - they really convey the movement of the surfer. The cool blue and white colour scheme is so fresh and an awesome interpretation of the sketch. If this isn’t an FMS winner, I’ll eat my hat lol! Who needs sport? You should totally stick to Cardmaking!!
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the sketch and a wonderful masculine card. Sports is not my bag although I like to watch. The limit of my abilities is mini golf! I like to swim but don't want to put a suit on. The flower resembles a lady slipper plant to me. It's beautiful no matter what it is...as are you! You are a blessing. AND I agree with Joanne!
ReplyDeleteLove the card LeAnne! So glad I popped into your blog today and happy to see you're still creating the most wonderful cards! Thanks also for sharing your nature pics. That's pretty much all I take pics of these days as I'm a homebody, too! Hope you're doing well!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I think this card is amazing! I agree with Joanne on the FMS win! The fabulous color combo is perfect and I must admit, I wish I could surf! I am too afraid of sharks to even get in the ocean now! LOL Never growing up by the ocean, I missed out on all those fun activities! Your nature pictures are beautiful! Thanks for rocking my challenge! Have a great week, My Friend!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, this is a fabulous CAS card. The monochromatic color scheme works so well, too. Gorgeous. So glad your sister is OK and that the storms missed her. Love the wonderful photos from around your garden. It's great that you are teaching Cassidy so much about nature!

One layer and perfectly CAS! Double whammy right there! You're exactly my type of sportsperson, although I'd throw in walking as well. The surfer is a great image but he only looks so spectacular because of the world of cool blue that you've created for him to inhabit. Lovely card.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sports themed card LeAnne! I love the the surfer! Great colours!!! So thankful to hear your sister is safe! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
ReplyDeleteThis is one fabulous card! Lots of s/s/s which I love! You are my kind of athelete!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to read your sister is okay! We have family in NC too, all are safe, thanks be to God. Now about your card...it's CAS fun!!
ReplyDeleteI think one layer cards are so difficult, and yours is awesome! I love the blue!
ReplyDeleteI love this one! Congrats on the FMS win, too.
ReplyDeleteClean and simple perfection, LeAnne! The epoxy "bubbles" are the perfect little accent. This is great news about your sister!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on this card and you...Queen of Clean at FMS!
ReplyDeleteHello LeAnne: I'm not a surfer but I love this card, you can hear the sound of that wave this brave surfer is riding, awesome color combination too.
ReplyDeleteAnd now my dear, that big insect the amazing spider (I love spiders, is that weird?) is most definitely a Cicada, I don't like them at all because, along with them come the awful and terrifying Cicada Killer Wasps, have you ever seen one of this creatures? They will make you cringe, my friend, ughhh!!
Anyway LeAnne, thank you for sharing these awesome photos and, of course, your fab card.
XO
OOOPS!! I forgot to add "is holding", LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI got to distracted by the memory of the Cicada Killer Wasps we had just this past Summer, sheeesh!!
If you've never seen one, you are lucky, just Google the name and you'll see why I just can't stand not even the thought of them.
XO
LeAnne...love the surfer dude... not sure about the "nature" pic... and most definitely love Cassidy's school pic!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Queen LeAnne! I think your card is CAS perfection and love the colors and the movement! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWell this card was just a big hit all around, LeAnne! Truly CAS perfection. I used to have this surfer stamp but sold it, another sale I regret. Congratulations, Queen of Clean!
