MTS157 and CCMC438 Birthday

Hi everyone!  I am a little late posting today....I starting a knitting project and the rest of my crafts have faded into the background, LOL!  But I roused myself and used the Match the Sketch sketch and the beautiful Create with Connie & Mary colors for a birthday card for my MIL:

CCMC438

I started with a thick white cardstock base....I already had this one scored, but I used it anyway...the fold is on the side, but that's okay!  I have been intrigued with the creations I have seen in blogland where images are stamped very faintly in a light color, then watercolored,  I'll show you my first project later in the post, but for this card, I stamped the flowers from Touches of Texture in Smoky Slate, then watercolored them with Flirty Flamingo and Pool Party inks:

I also stamped the speckles and lace image in Pool Party, then heat embossed part of the birthday sentiment from Cottage Greetings in white, and added the "happy" in FF, stamped on a Stitched Shapes oval:

It's difficult to see, but I also added some silver thread behind the sentiment and a little sliver of silver glimmer paper to the banner.  My final touch was a dragonfly, colored, cut out and popped up:

And here is the inside:

Now, here is my first attempt at this technique.  My Big Shot plates, which I have since tried to flatten out, were so warped that my die slipped, and I did not get a good cut, but I wanted to show you this little snowman from Jar of Cheer anyway:

Here's the final result....not the best, but still cute and I want to try it again!  Thanks for popping in today!

Just a few shots from Christmas morning:

Cassidy only asked for a couple of things for Christmas, and a "doll that looks like a reel baby" was one of them.....can you tell she was excited about receiving it? Love the look on her face!

Enjoy your day!

  1. I missed you early this morning! Glad you finally got to post. I will be CASEing the birthday card. I used my precision base plate last night with my new thinlits and both the cutting plate AND my thinlits warped. I am not a happy camper. I tried it without the thin die adapter but it wouldn't cut. The sandwich is too thick when the plate warps and it ruined my TDA too. I will call SU after the holiday. I can't believe how much it warped the cutting plate after only two run throughs. Do you use the PBP? I'm not sure if the problem is the tension on the Big Shot but from what I'm hearing from other demos, they are running into the same problem.

  3. Your Birthday card is just gorgeous, I love the colours. I find the PBP does warp the plates but I have kept old plates for this purpose and to stop the scratching transferring to the card I place a piece of paper over my card then the cutting plate. I only use the PBP for the detailed dies as it really warps them.

  4. So pretty, LeAnne! Love the soft colors and collage style. Your snowman in a jar card is adorable, too. My plates are ancient and warped also, I just deal with it as long as I can and then buy new ones on sale when I can find them and toss the old ones.

  10. This is so beautiful! Cottage Greetings has some of my favorite fonts ever, which is the one and only reason I bought that stamp. The birthday greeting looks amazing embossed in white and paired with the stitched happy oval. I really like the look of the light lines with the darker watercoloring. It all looks SO GOOD! Thanks for joining us at Create with Connie and Mary!
