Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope you’re enjoying your holiday weekend! Today I am the hostess at the Paper Players, and I came up with a sketch that hopefully will spark your creative interest! I always have lots of little scraps left over from various cards and projects, so I thought it would be fun to make a sketch that would allow you to mix and match those scraps! Here you go!
For my card, I chose to use some Comfort Café papers to make a “comforting” card….since the colors in these are more fall-like, I haven’t used them for a while! And because it’s retiring, it seemed a shame to not give it some love….so here we go:
My card base is Summer Starfruit, layered with Very Vanilla and Baja Breeze, on which I have stamped a couple of images from Day of Gratitude, which is also retiring. I then embossed it with the Woodgrain EF, layered on my pieces, and added a little vellum tag, diecut from the Lots of Tags die set…also retiring. This was my go-to tag set, I am so sad to not see it return! I did add a little resin dahlia atop a NEW Very Vintage designer button….isn’t it sweet!!!
And try as I may, Summer Starfruit just doesn’t want to photograph correctly with my camera, so although this looks like some brilliant yellow cardstock, it really is the interior of my Summer Starfruit card!!!
I hope you’ll play along with us at the Paper Players this week and be sure to check out what all the other designers came up with using this fun sketch!! See you there!
Cassidy presented me with all kinds of photo ops the last few days! This time, she watered my flowers for me (again, sorry for the mis-matched outfit!!!):
She waters like a pro! And she was determined to get out every last drop!
What a wonderful card! I love all the mix of colors and patterns.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers on the porch are beautiful. Especially, love the basket on the step.
Very pretty, LeAnne! The sketch is awesome and I love your paper choices:it makes a very interesting card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very cool card, dearie!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch, LeAnne, and great inspiration based on it! I love ideas for using up those scraps!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable picture of Cassidy watering. About her outfit? From what I'm seeing in the malls and on Pinterest, she is STYLIN'! The rage right now is mixing patterns, especially if, like Cassidy, you maintain a color thread, so you've got her right "on trend," mama!!
And now I'm off in search of hot pink tennies; I don't have that color!
Great sketch this week, LeAnne! I love your creation with it, too. The stamped and then embossed background looks great behind those pretty patterns. Hugs :) Sandy
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch LeAnne and I love the card you made with it. Very pretty papers and truly a comforting card. I really like the button treatment.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of Cassidy. She is becoming a little gardener isn't she?
what a sweet card LeAnne ~ love all that DSP ~ you always nail that! Send Cassidy my way...could use some help! Way to go little one!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I love that card, and it makes me miss that Day of Gratutude stamp set already!! What a great stamp set... Sniff, sniff...
ReplyDeleteAs for Cassidy's outfit, I think I bought that skirt for one of granddaughters! Gotta love Carters clothes! One of Katie's girls loves picking out her own clothes and putting them on all by herself and she comes up with some rather, um... interesting (!) combinations. As long as they're dressed, Katie doesn't feel the need to make things match, so whatever she puts on is what she wears for the day! Grin!
LOVE the pics of Cassidy! I wish I could take pics like you do!

ReplyDeleteLove this card, LeAnne! I had fun with this sketch. I have so many scraps of retiring dsp, and this was a perfect challenge to use some of them.
