On Monday, I got word from four different friends or family members that a loved one had passed away….FOUR! I was slightly overwhelmed by the news and yesterday was just a little out of sorts. I got to work making a couple of cards to send out as I knew I only had a few sympathy cards in my stash. I got a sneak peek at Lesley’s Freshly Made Sketches sketch #7, and as I was having a sleepless night, got up and did some stamping! Here’s the sketch:
And here’s my card:
This is for our youth pastor’s FIL who lost his battle with cancer. They live here in PA and his wife’s family live in GA, so it has been stressful to travel back & forth. The FIL was a pastor as well and a really fun guy—we met him at our youth pastor’s ordination—and he will be greatly missed. I liked the crown image from Established Elegance, and the Well Worn papers are very masculine; I did add some denim ribbon, just a tad, to add some interest.
I hope that Lesley deems this “clean” enough!! I will need to be making a few more sympathy cards, so perhaps this sketch will be put to use again!
Wee Details:
- Stamps: Established Elegance, Thoughts & Prayers (retired set & I don’t remember the name)
- Paper: VV, Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, Well Worn & First Edition DP
- Ink: Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, River Rock
- Acc: Nesties, Denim Ribbon, Antique Brads, Button from my stash
My little reader….this particular book shows babies dressed in “work” clothes---aerobics teacher, artist, chef, and a plumber (complete with plunger and a butt crack view, which is more for the adults reading it than the kids, I think!)!! LOL! It goes right over her head, but she loves to look at those babies!!! Thanks for visiting today!
Love these colors and that's a great sketch. Very pretty card, LeAnne!
ReplyDelete....LOL on the butt crack comment.
Beautifully done! So sorry you need to make so many of these. I always seem to need way too many of them myself. Love the Pebbles hairdo on the librarian :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you received so much sad news in one day. Sending you virtual hugs now... Really like the more artsy stamps on the Sympathy card. Very elegant.
ReplyDeleteSorry it's for the reason it is but the card is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, LeAnne! So sad for you that you needed it, though. I love the collage look of the image panel. The Antique Brads and that button are perfect together.
ReplyDeleteOh hon! I'm so sorry for your loss - and so many at once too. This is a perfect card - my prayers are with you
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your recent losses. Sympathy cards are so difficult and yet I'm sure the recipient will appreciate your hand-made efforts.
ReplyDeleteThose brads are among my favorites and they look wonderful grouped together.
Beautiful card! Love the regalness of it for a sympathy card....makes me think of the Crown of Righteousness mentioned in
ReplyDelete2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV)
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
I'm sorry to read of the losses.
And,... That piggy, (as my mom endearingly called them), on your granddaughter is adorable.
Gorgeous, LeAnne. Sorry you had to make it, but it is a really nice card. I hope your week has improved. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful LeAnne ... love the patterned papers and the brads make for beautiful and simple embellishments!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your news ... thoughts and prayers with you and your family!
