Beth’s Birthday Cake

DSCF0065

Yesterday was my friend Beth’s birthday---yes, she was a St Patrick’s baby!  I resisted my desire to make her a green card and fashioned a paper birthday cake for her:

I used several punches to make quick work of this cake---no heating up my kitchen, no temptation to lick the icing bowl, and best of all, this cake has no calories!  And check out the glittery icing:

Hope you had a great birthday, Beth!

  2. LeAnn, this is beyond adorable! I just love the idea you shared of making a "punch" cake. The glittery icing and pom pom trim are awesome accents, too. Little Mass Cassidy looks as sweet as ever, in her photo. Too Cute! :)

  5. LeAnne,

This is such a really clever idea! Your creation is perfectly done and a lot of cutting and punching going on. I will try it for myself and show the grand daughters how to make a BD cake on a stand too. They love to punch! Yesterday was Matti's BD dinner and Jodi (the mom) made a chocolate cake with a caramel glaze and a brown sugar frosting and it was soo good. "I" licked the spatula and bowl from the caramel and the frosting and ate a little taste of the cake. It was a Paula Deen recipe from FoodTV Network site called Chocolate Pecan Caramel cake. Try it for someone special. It was really good, but lots of butter!

Love and blessings to a great paper cake maker! Martha

  6. Terrific cake card! Looks good enough to eat. The ball fringe must be really tiny... am wondering how it would survive the postal service! Love all the pictures of Cassidy! So sweet!
