Paper Players #22

Hi everyone!  This week at the Paper Players, the challenge is “Anything Goes”!  Do anything you like!  Woohoo!  This will be my last challenge at the Paper Players, as I am stepping down from my commitment for a little while.  I still plan on participating occasionally, but I am going to spend some quality time with my family and stamp for fun!  And that’s what this project was….it was so easy, I literally put this together about fifteen minutes before we had some company earlier this week.  Check it out:

I found this tall glass container at a yard sale for $.50; the rub-ons were from last year’s Autumn Harvest collection, and the pine cones are from my yard!  I added another row of rub-ons on the back:

and a big striped ribbon tied simply at the top.  It made a nice quick centerpiece for my table!  I think it would look equally as nice filled with some mini pumpkins, some autumn potpourri or some berries.   What would you put inside?  I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Flowers for Friends

Last week I did a workshop for some of my experienced stampers; the hostess had wanted to learn to make flowers, so we did!  The first one used nine scallops punched with SU’s Scallop Circle punch; I used the Peach Parfait DP from the hostess pack:

The flower center was a rhinestone brad; the background was made using the Faux Linen technique I saw on Ann’s blog—so easy and they loved it!  I also did some distressing with the distressing kit and the sprizter.  The leaves & sentiment are from Day of Gratitude; cardstock colors were Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz.

We also learned to make rolled roses; this is the sample I showed them:

They all made pink roses and they were quite pretty!  It was a great workshop and we had a blast!!!  TFL!

Christmas Collage

I resisted the Christmas Collage background stamp until my friend Georgette used it on a gorgeous card and I was hooked!  My only wish is that the design was exactly the size of a card front…..it’s a little larger than that, so I have to cut something off and it’s all so pretty, I hate to do that!  Anyway, I stamped it in Crumb Cake on Crumb Cake, then used the silhouette family from Welcome Christmas in Cherry Cobbler:

I added a sentiment from Many Merry Messages and I made a triple bow with a Bow Easy using the Very Vanilla seam binding available in the Holiday Mini.  Other than the bow, this was a quick easy card---I layered it on a Cherry Cobbler card base and added a sentiment on a VV panel inside:

Color Throwdown #116

Woohoo!  I am the hostess today at the Color Throwdown and I’ve chosen some lovely subtle holiday colors to get you in the mood for some Christmas stamping.  If you don’t do Christmas, I am sure you can come up with some other themes for which to use these colors!!! 

My sweet friend Linda lent me her Delightful Decorations set and punch, so I thought I would use them for my card:

The card base is Certainly Celery;  I used the Jolly Jingles jumbo wheel from the Holiday Mini catalog, and some Pear Pizzazz ink, for my subtle background, embellishing it with pearls here and there.  The “ribbon” is actually Cherry Cobbler seam binding, also from the mini:

Just a quick post before my granddaughter arrives….SCS’s CAS90 challenge today is to use gingham and/or checks.  I had this paper from Crafty Secrets hanging out on my desk for days, along with a some nice vintages prints from the Graphics Fairy:

I added a button from my stash and a sentiment from SU’s Teeny Tiny Wishes, and it was done.  QUICK!  I apologize for my photo….I have family staying with me and my “photo tent” is in the spare bedroom!  Thanks for visiting today!

Paper Players 21 – Recipe Challenge

Well, I am back---I had a nice little blogging vacation and ready to play with the Paper Players again!  This week, Ann is our hostess with a recipe!  You must use these items in creating your card:

1. Designer Paper
2. A sentiment
3. A punch

Easy peasy!  I needed to make some fast cards recently and I have a plethora of DP, so I came up with a really easy CAS layout which uses up some of that gorgeous SU paper!  I have two to show you:

And the other:

These both use Greenhouse Gala DP and the Perfect Punches stamp set.  That SU paper coordinates so beautifully—one side is usually a more subtle design while the other is more bold….a perfect combination!  I love letting the DP do the work!  These make perfect cards to show at a workshop, too…..they pack a punch with a minimum of supplies!

Good day to everyone!  This week, Lesley has created a sketch this week for the Paper Players and YOU!  Here it is:

I don’t know what I’m more excited about:  my new French Foliage set or the new seam binding in the Holiday Mini catalog!  I love them both---AND the glimmer brad!  This card took me about 10 minutes to make…..and I think it is plenty dramatic, what do you think?  I left a sentiment off the front, so I can use this for any occasion that might arise.  The sketch leaves room for LOTS of possibilities too, so I hope you’ll play along too!  You’ll find all the details on the Paper Players blog.  Thanks so much for visiting today!

I haven’t had a chance to play over at Pals Paper Arts, so I really strived to do it this week, since I got my lovely new set, French Foliage.  Here’s the inspiration photo they supplied:

I wanted to capture the more subtle colors of fall, as well as the texture in the girl’s sweater and hat; not sure if I did that, as my card looks a little “blah” to me:

I did some vintagey stuff, a la Ann, and used the colors So Saffron, Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake and Pear Pizzazz.  I ran a piece of Elegant Soiree through the Square Lattice EF and roughed up the edges.  The sentiment from Falling Leaves was stamped on a diecut tag, and I added a Vintage Brad and some trim.  Thanks for visiting today and have a great weekend!

Frightful CAS

Just a quick little Halloween card for my sale basket at Curves, using Night Owl DP and Fright Night, both from the Holiday Mini:

Card base is Peach Parfait, and the image was stamped in Craft Basic Black, sprinkled with Heat & Stick powder, heated up, then finished with black glitter…an awesome effect!!!  Here’s a closer look, hopefully you can see:

A little crimped and punched border with a black Glimmer brad finishes it off.  Thanks for looking today!

Color Throwdown 114

Kristin is the hostess for the CTD this week, and I am lovin’ the colors she has chosen!  Two of these colors are SU’s new “In Colors”, so if you don’t have them, just use something close---we want everyone to be able to play!  Check out the CTD blog for all the details!

For my card this week, I pulled out a couple of neglected Big Shot items, dusted them off and put them to use:

 

I added a few little embellishments, mounted them on an embossed panel and added my sentiment and it was good to go!  The little bird is from the mini hostess set, Northern  Hearts.  Now lets see what the others have done:

It’s that bewitching time of the year, and Arielle has chosen some spooky colors for our challenge today! I could go a little crazy with Halloween decorations, they’re so much fun, I just have to rein myself in! Check out these cool colors from this cute little candy bowl:

For my card, I went again to that little witch in Fangtastic:

She is so NOT a spooky witch!!! So I gave her a not-so-spooky cat friend, and a Glimmer brad spider (the brad spider idea is from Danielle) and some other Glimmer brads in the challenge colors---love them! You can’t see it in the picture, but the embossed spider web is glittery too…just a faint little bit! The sentiment is from an older SU set, embossed in white EP! Here’s a closeup of Mr. Spider:

Paper Players Inspiration Challenge 19

Another Sunday and it’s Jaydee’s turn to bring us an Inspiration Challenge and what a beauty it is:

This just sings old-fashioned Christmas to me! Since my time is limited this week (until I get into a new “groove” with my granddaughter) I chose to make a really simple card, using a retired set called To You & Yours:

I am hoping you can see the full effect of this---the Real Red card was cut using the large Square Scallop die, placing the top fold just below the edge of the die. Then I cut a narrower piece of snowflake window sheet, also just running one edge through the die….just enough to cut it, then back it out, so I could get that matching scalloped edge. I attached it on the back by scoring the window sheet at about 1/2”, then adhering that 1/2” section to the back with Sticky Strip. The image was inked in Real Red, then I went over the trees and snow with a Basic Black marker. I added some “glitter snow” too:

Isn’t it pretty behind the “window”? A satin ribbon tames the window sheet into behaving and staying close to the card, because it wants to be wild and run away! LOL! Here’s another view:

And the inside uses a sentiment from that set, plus an element from Style Beautiful….I am finding ways to sneak that set into many things!!
