Happy Friday, stampers! Time for a new As You See It challenge, and we have a FUN sketch for you! Check this out:
And here we go, using the sadly-un-utilized Gentle Waves stamp set:
This is such a lovely, peaceful stamp set and I have only used it a couple of times and haven't seen it around blogland too much either! I was hoping it would make it into the new catalog, but sadly, not. Anyway, I stamped three panels, one each in Seaside Spray, Balmy Blue, and Misty Moonlight, then used a die from Ornate Layers to cut the panels. I know in the sketch, the panels are graduated in size, but I just knew I wouldn't get them looking right, so I opted for the die, LOL! They went on a Basic White card and I added the compass from Sailing Home, backed with a Night of Navy circular mat, and a sentiment from Reflected in Nature, another sadly-neglected set. (I've been singing Knights in White Satin all day long after stamp it, LOL!) I am also going to pop this in at Krafty Chicks, where their challenge is "Stamp Act"...just some stamping!
Anyway, this would be a good sympathy card or just for someone who's going through a rough patch...watching the ocean is always a good soother to me! I hope you'll find a way to use this sketch...it's a great one for using up some narrow strips of DSP! And it can be embellished any way you like! Can't wait to see what you create...share it with us at the As You See It blog! Thanks for popping in today...enjoy it and be blessed!

Sadly, I have only that stamp once! Great use of it on your card.
ReplyDeleteLeAnne I've always thought these were the perfect sets for the wife of a sailor - I'm right, they are! Absolutely gorgeous card - love the changing colors of your waves, the compass, and sentiment are just perfect!
ReplyDelete=]
Yes, a beautiful "moody blues" card! My mind went there as soon as I saw the sentiment. I love how you've created the blue gradients. Wonderfully done!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, LeAnne - love the blues graduating up the card, and how fun to do the stitched rectangles for them - absolutely perfect for a nautical card! You're the captain, now!
ReplyDeleteI was so hoping that this stamp would carry over too; your card is a great example of why it should! Those ombre panels of calming waves are perfect with your sentiment and compass as the anchor (no pun intended). I feel like I could get totally lost in this card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvellous way to use the background stamp. The way you've created an ombre effect is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe ombre colors are wonderful! Such a peaceful card!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone about the ombré. And that pop of navy to anchor it, even though it’s a compass, spectacular! Delighted to have you join us at Krafty Chicks Challenge this week.
