Hello stampers! It's time for the first Paper Players challenge of 2021 and I am the hostess! If you got some new goodies for the holidays, now is the time to break them out! And even if you didn't get something "new", I am sure you have something in your stash that's not gotten inky or cut into or cranked or whatever! We just want to see something new!
For my project I chose to do something I've not ever done....watercolor an embossed image! This is a new folder from the upcoming Mini Catalog, called Seashells, and it's part of a lovely suite called Sand & Sea. I embossed a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock, then colored the embossing with ink and an aquapainter:
I painted each section with ink that was fairly watered down, as I wasn't quite sure how the embossing would take the ink; all in all, I guess it's not bad for my first attempt! I used several colors to color the shells, adding a little shading after the initial layer dried. This one used Blushing Bride and Petal Pink:
This one was Pool Party with a hint of Coastal Cabana; the purple ones were Highland Heather and Magenta Madness (I wouldn't do that again):
and this one was So Saffron and Mango Melody along with Blushing Bride; I really liked this one! The seaweed was done with Pear Pizzazz and Soft Seafoam, and I also added Wink of Stella to the little water bubbles, as well as to some of the shells.
I adhered it to a Pool Party card base and added a sentiment from Here's A Card, which was cut with a Tasteful Labels die.
I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week, and I was remiss in my last Paper Players post in not announcing that we have a new team of Guest Designers! Please pop over to the
Paper Players blog to meet Nancy, Debbie and Amanda, see what they created, along with our regular team, and give them some love! Thanks for popping in today!
