So, confession time.....I messed up my Inspired By post earlier today by sharing with you NEXT WEEK's inspiration! So upsetting! My teammate Michele encouraged me to go ahead and create a card for this week anyway, despite the fact that my mojo was in the tank! And guess what....I made a card in about ten minutes! So here is the REAL inspiration for this week:
Anyone remember the movie Endless Summer? It came out in 1966; I definitely remember those graphics, but I never saw the movie! I just used my one and only surfer image a couple of weeks back, so I didn't want to use him again, but my friend Amy just bought the Sailing Home stamps and dies and was looking for inspiration, so I decided to use the sailboat die for my graphic-design card:
I sort of used the sketch, although I wasn't really trying! I simply cut layers of Poppy Parade and Magenta Madness to fit my card front and added a big Daffodil Delight "sun". I diecut the sailboat from Basic Black and the "enjoy" is from the retired Mini Treat Bag dies. I did do a wee bit of stamping on the water and added some seagulls from Sailing Home:
I think this will make a great masculine birthday card...I am so glad Michele "made" me make a card for this week...thanks, Michele! I hope you'll play along with our pretty summer inspiration this week at Inspired By! And thank YOU for stopping by!
What I did with my free time today....dill relish! Only had four big cucumbers and there are NO LIDS AND SEALS to be found in my area....had to scrounge around my cupboards just to make these jars!
I guess I should be glad that canning has been so popular this summer! Who remembers the "pop" the jars would make as they cooled off...a sure sign of a good seal! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

ReplyDeleteSo glad you made a card anyway! This is lovely. We gave away all of our canning supplies last year and now I am sooooooo wishing we hadn't! We have cucumbers coming out of our ears and refrigerator pickles and cucumber salad will only use up so much. Who knew that cucumbers and zucchini produce at the rate that they do! Only 2 cucumber plants and, thank goodness, no zucchini. My demo buddies that also garden and I are swapping produce in an effort to make the most of it. Hope you and the family are doing well. We are hanging in there and the kids are starting to wish they could go back to school - what a surprise. 4 of them are in high school this year and are feeling a bit lost, so parents and grandparents are going to have to step up and help them adjust. So far only distance learning here for both the HS and the middle schools so we shall see. Feel free not posting this comment as it is really just a message touching base with you. Am loving that I can stay in touch electronically with so many of the folks that I feel close to even though we have never met. No sailing this year, but hopefully next year. I think I miss seeing our east coast family as much as I miss the sailing! Stay safe and healthy and huge hugs to both you and Cassidy - can't believe how grown up she is although it's not as much a surprise for me as my grands are also growing and changing before my tired old eyes. ~chris

ReplyDeleteLove this card! It's so unique, and it reminds me of a striped "surfer shirt" my husband used to wear all the time when we were dating that was in those bright colors.

I love the bright colours and images of your card and having seen it when I was catching up on my blog reading this morning it totally inspired me to have a go at this week's Inspired By challenge too, so I'm glad Michele encouraged you to go for it - I love those bold blocks of colour!
