I had just attempted a 3D cube card (you can see it here), and wanted to make one a little smaller, so this was a perfect opportunity! So here we go:
I needed a birthday card for one of Cassidy's friends from church...he is turning ten tomorrow, and he's as smart as a whip, as most ten-year-olds are! I thought he would enjoy the engineering of this card! The base of my card is Just Jade, and I used some retired Birthday Bonanza DSP, Pool Party, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight cardstocks for accents. I stamped one of the dinosaurs in Just Jade and added a Pumpkin Pie accent, then mounted him on a Tasteful Label die stamped with a sentiment and stars from Label Me Bold:
The punched stars were attached with an acetate strip, bringing the size of the card, when folded, up to a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2":
I stamped a sentiment from A Grand Kid to fit on the lower cubes:
And this is how it folds up to fit into a standard envelope:
This is a wee bit different than my other card, but I got the directions from the same blog; you can see the directions HERE.....the video is helpful, and he has the dimensions in inches below the video!
The design team made some awesome creations using fabulous and fancy folds! Be sure to hop over to the Paper Players blog and get some inspiration....then share your fancy folded card with us! Can't wait to see it!
Not a dinosaur, but who can resist a little boy with a kitten? My great-nephew Sawyer:
I just want to eat him up! Thanks for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!

Wow1 LeAnne another one of these amazing box cards. I watched his video last time. I know you said you made this watching I think Jeopardy. Are there any other videos for this? Looked quite involved to me.. but you have this down gal. Cute great nephew, Love red heads.
ReplyDeleteCassidy's friend is going to love it! What a great work of engineering. Sawyer and kitten...purrfect and oh so sweet. Have a blessed day yourself!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne this is amazing - I'll bet that little 'engineer' will try recreating it!
ReplyDeleteI could never resist this red-head OR his kitten!!

This is fabulous! Such a fun card! And that little redhead is adorable!
ReplyDeleteBefore I get to your adorable card, let’s talk about little Sawyer! Oh my goodness is he ever cute and the kitten just dials up the cuteness even more. So sweet! Ok, and speaking of cuteness, your card is just darling. Love the pairing of Just Jade and Pumpkin Pie and I can’t wait to try out making that fun fold myself. I’m sure Cassidy’s buddy is going to love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous - so fun! I have never seen this design until you shared earlier this week - I love the design of this one, with the cute dino and bright colours. As for Sawyer - he really is adorable!
ReplyDeleteThat fun fold is sure to delight the young man receiving it! Love that fun dsp with the dinosaur! And Sawyer is a real cutie pie with those blue eyes and precious grin :)
ReplyDeleteWow that's a really fancy fold..I bet he LOVED this! Very clever. Cute pic of Sawyer too...very adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, he is going to love his incredible card! Terrific colors and design LeAnne. I don't know what's cuter, Sawyer and the kitten or his little smudged face!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a terrific card with all the different components and of course the "rarsome" dino! No doubt the recipient loved getting it! The other colors work perfectly with the new jade in color; I especially like it paired with pumpkin pie. And thanks for the little shot of cuteness with Sawyer and his kitten, he is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI don't know which is more adorable! The birthday card or the darling photo of your great nephew. Both are fun and fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculously cute - as is your great-nephew! I LOVE how the little dino is peeking up over the top of the card when it's closed. Going to have to give this one a try, for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteOK... toss-up nephew, kitten or card?.... yeah kitten wins, but the nephew and card are a very close second :-) What a fabulous card for a 10-year old. I bet he loved it! I love that you kept the colors minimal and let the fancy fold really shine. So creative, LeAnne. I love it
