My original card for this challenge was an epic FAIL. I just could not get my colors to work together well. I have been disappointed in SU's selection of pinks in the last few years. I loved Pink Pirouette, but they retired it; Blushing Bride is acceptable, and Rococo Rose is pretty, but a little too dark for what I wanted to create. Petal Pink is just too orangey for me. What to do, what to do? In the end, I DID use Petal Pink, along with gold embossing, for my butterfly-accented card today; I ended up really liking these colors together:
I started by stamping my butterfly from Butterfly Gala on three different Petal Pink DSPs, but by the time I did the embossing, you couldn't see the patterns anyway!!! But trust me, they're there! I punched them out and layered them on a piece of Petal Pink DSP diecut with a Tasteful Labels die...LOVE those dies!! My new favorites! The "thanks" sentiment from the retired Watercolor Wonder set was also embossed with gold. I added some gold thread, tied in a bow behind the panel, and some new Gilded Gold gems on each butterfly:
I put it all on a Stitched Rectangle panel that was embossed with the Subtle embossing folder, then mounted it on a Whisper White card. My sketch is from FMS for this week:
I hope you'll create something yummy with our recipe this week! Be sure to check out all the designers' creations at the As You See It blog!
So yesterday, Cassidy and I are in the car, driving on the highway in light rain.
Me: "Look at that crazy driver going past me...it's raining, and he doesn't have his lights on. And the car behind him is tailgating!"
Cassidy: "I don't know what that means."
Me: "Tailgating is when the car behind you is too close; if you have to slam on your brakes, he might hit you because he doesn't have time to stop."
Me: "Tailgating is when the car behind you is too close; if you have to slam on your brakes, he might hit you because he doesn't have time to stop."
Cassidy: "Ohhhh...so the cars aren't practicing social distancing!"
LOL!!! Thanks for stopping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Pinks are tough, LeAnne... but this one is just PEACHY to me!!! what a gorgeous shade to match with gold embossing.
ReplyDeleteOH is this a darling card! Butterflies? Yes, please! Our Monarchs have still not arrived! I'm beginning to get worried.
=]
This is fabulous LeAnne! I love the butterflies and the way you stamped and heat embossed them on patterned paper. I'm a big fan of Petal Pink but I've also felt the lack of some less corally pinks. Lovely to see Magenta Madness but sometimes you just want a baby pink! LOL at Cassidy - very good! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteCute card, LeAnne! And I know what you mean about the pink colors! The conversation with Cassidy = LOL! So funny!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous card, LeAnne! Love the gold embossed butterflies! I agree with the font in that stamp set, so nice! Oh and I agree with the SU pink colors! Pretty in Pink was always my favorite then they retired it. What's a girl to do?! I'm still crackin up over Miss Cassidy's saying! That girl is so funny! TFS and have a great day! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your card! I still have Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette so I understand from you are coming. I will definitely be CASEing this beauty. Cassidy is too funny.
ReplyDeletePetal pink polka dots and pretty little butterflies sure do make a marvelous card! Love the gold too!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty card! I love the gold and pink combo and those butterflies are gorgeous. I miss Pink Pirouette too. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!
ReplyDeleteThis card is fabulous - another great CAS thank you! I am definitely going to have to get those butterflies off the shelf! I love how you managed to create something so pretty and CAS with the recipe - I just kept adding things until I’d ticked all the boxes!! I’m with you on the pinks - I do love Melon Mambo, but I pine for pink pirouette as a pale pink go-to.
ReplyDeleteTruly lovely! The petal pink dots and the gold are beautiful together - and the "subtle" background keeps it all so soft. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those gold embossed butterflies are terrific! Love it. So glad you joined us at Freshly Made Sketches this week.
