Happy Tuesday, peeps! Brrr....it's really cold here in PA! No snow though, I am wishing for at least one good one this winter! Hopefully soon! Anyway, I am doing something different today, I have a one-layer card for the Less Is More challenge this week:
I see so many cool cards featuring stencilling, but I just don't feel as if I am very good at it! But I thought I'd give it a go, using a SU mask and the colors of Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose and Rich Razzleberry, to create my off-center design:
I used blending brushes to sponge on each color, going from light to dark. For the sentiment, I used a sentiment from the new So Sentimental set, lining it up in my Stamparatus and inking it in Blackberry Bliss to get a good sharp image. I cleaned off the stamp, still on the plate, and inked it again with Versamark, then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder:
The embossing really shines on top of the stencilling!! And the stencilling wasn't that difficult! Thanks for popping in today!
Cassidy has always enjoyed drawing, and she got a big sketch book and some colored pencils from her uncle this Christmas, so she has been entertaining us with some of her artwork. She made this for Wayne, and all the letters are made from sports equipment!
Dana said the W is made of footballs; the A is baseballs; the Y is basketballs, the N is hockey sticks (my favorite), and the E is hockey pucks! She is also learning cursive, so I love how she connected the W and A in Wayne's name (as well as her own signature). Her creativity amazes me! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

ReplyDeleteYou did an excellent job with the stencil...loved the increase in color. Cassidy's talent continues to amaze me. No snow here either but it's 43 outside and 60 inside. We refuse to give into turning the heat on!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great take on a one-layer card! Oddly enough I just had my hands on this very stencil yesterday and thought to myself "Carol, you've had this for quite a while, it's time to USE it to make something" and back into the sleeve it went without using it! LOL It's intimidating because it's so large, but you've done a great job with it. Cassidy's drawing is very creative for such a young child - I'm impressed!!
ReplyDeleteI think you are VERY good it, LeAnne! Beautiful one-layer card!
ReplyDelete=]
to Cassidy: good job, corn on the cob!
Great use of this stencil LeAnne which is quite large and can be a little intimidating I think. I love the graduated colour and bold sentiment.
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot to say - Cassidy's drawing is just fab - she really is so creative and her joined-up writing is coming along a treat!
ReplyDeleteYou should stencil more often, this looks marvelous! Great job Cassidy, I like the hockey sticks too!
ReplyDeleteIts so funny, LeAnne, I was JUST looking at a card I made for my husband last year using that very stencil. I was also thinking that I really should buy that stamp set and dies from the Mini catalog and when I saw your card I knew I should just DO IT. Also, a stenciling tip; I'm not sure what blending tool you use but I would highly recommend the blending brushes from Taylored Expressions. I have never had such beautiful stenciled cards until I began using them. Not inexpensive but very high quality.
ReplyDeleteYour cards and daily posts are so inspirational to me. Thanks for all you do.
This is beautiful LeAnne - and the stencilling is perfect! Your ombre effect has given the one layer card lots of depth and the embossed sentiment too. Vicky x
ReplyDeleteYour stencilling is fabulous and I love the colours you chose, with the sentiment in the same tone. I didn't think much to stencilling at first but I have loads now and love them! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Less is More, Anita x
