Happy Sunday, peeps! It's back to challenges for the new year for the Paper Players....and we said goodbye to Sandy (sniff sniff) but hello to some new guest designers! You'll have to pop by to see who they are if you haven't seen already!
Ann is our hostess for our first challenge of January, and here's her theme:
This was a great chance to highlight a new set from the Occasions catalog, Nine Lives! This set matches the cat punch I already had and it's a fun two-step photopolymer set, so I used it to make a sympathy card for a neighbor who just lost her beloved Fezzywig!! (Love that name!). So here we go:
I used the sketch from the Global Design Project:
and several images and sentiments from the set with some papers from the Animal Expedition DSP line:
The kitty was stamped with Memento Black and Gray Granite, and I added some shading with a Smoky Slate blend. The yarn and mouse were stamped in black as well and colored with blends too. On the inside, I took a sentiment from the other pet set in the new catalog, called Happy Tails, and embellished it with some mats for the inside:
This theme is open wide for any kind of critter! I can't wait to see what everyone creates! You can check out what the DT created here:

Love this card LeAnne - the pink and greys go beautifully together and I love the way you personalised the colouring of your cat for the recipient too. I couldn’t resist using this sketch to create a canine version! I think these sets will be really popular with the animal lovers out there and cards like yours really show it to best advantage. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI love both of these "critter" sets. I'll probably play at the challenge site. Sandy's link does not go to a Critters challenge. Have a beautifully blessed day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute card for a sad occasion but i'm sure this will be much appreciated! So sorry for your neighbors loss. Love the color you made the cat and the strip of cat toys under him. Very cute design, LeAnne! TFS Happy Sunday! :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable card! Love the color choices.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this sweet card! I just got my Occasions cattie and will have to check out this set!
ReplyDeleteYour card is delightful LeAnne! I love this photo of Cassidy. I spy a little bit of green peeking out from under her coat. It made me imagine she had on an elf costume with the hat and her candy cane stripe socks!
ReplyDeleteSweet as can be......love the red bow!
ReplyDeleteThis card is adorable. Love how you incorporated both the cat and mouse.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card. Love the bow on the tail. I ordered both the cat and dog sets. Anxiously awaiting their arrival!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card, LeAnne. I'm sure it will bring comfort to Fezzywig's owner, and that she will treasure it. It's so perfect it all respects!
ReplyDeleteCute set and such a cute card! That cat is adorable with the bow on it's tail!
ReplyDeleteYou know I love this card, LeAnne! Just adorable! Sorry to hear about poor Fezzywig. I agree, it's a great name!

LeAnne, this is so sweet. My Sister is a huge cat person and would love this card. You know I am a huge fan of red, so this card makes me smile! I hope your 2019 is off to a great start, My Friend! XX
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet card for your neighbor, LeAnne. It’s so hard to say goodbye to our furry family members. I really like the pop of pink and the way you used so many elements in the stamp set. You’ve inspired me to ink it up myself.
