IB42 Spooky

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Laurel has a fun Halloween challenge for us today at Inspired By!  I very seldom do "gruesome" or scary Halloween cards, I gravitate towards cute and funny, but I did step out of my comfort zone a wee bit for today's:

So here's the prompt:

Yes, a skeleton would not be my normal go-to theme, but I did have this cute little one from a Recollections Halloween set, and I found some Halloween-themed DSP from several years ago with ravens on it instead of bats, so I layered it under this fun little poem that I stamped on vellum:

I put it inside a frame of Granny Apple Green, diecut with a wonky stitched die and popped it up with some of SU's foam strips; that gave it enough depth to read the words but still see the pattern below!  I stamped my skull in Whisper White and gave it a little shadowing with my SU blend, then added some twine and black glimmer stars:

And since I had the inside portion of the frame still sitting on my desk, I added a sentiment to it and layered it on the inside with another piece of the DSP:

I actually think my little skeleton is kinda cute!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week too!  Have fun with it!

I recently received this little box of Andes mints from one of my (very) crafty customers, Maryanne:

Of course, Cassidy ate the candy, but also wanted to make little boxes for Lee and Jackie!  We got the directions from Julie DiMatteo (you can see them HERE), and we picked out some cardstock and DSP and went to work!

Learning to use the Envelope Punch Board!

How does this turn into a box?????

Scoring intently:

And gluing the box together!

We didn't have time to decorate it, so we'll finish it tomorrow!  Thanks for popping in today--be blessed and enjoy your day!

  3. You've heard the expression "she's got deep pockets" no doubt. Have you heard this one? "She's got deep storage drawers!" There is no end to the great things you pull out when needed!! Cassidy is doing great work. She is quite full of preciousness. I think I have to order that punch board. I've been putting it off for quite some time.

  4. Do you have the gift box punch board too? I'm not sure which one I should order. I have an envelope board by Martha Stewart.

  8. Super cute Halloween card, LeAnne! I don't think it's scary and just perfect for our upcoming Halloween occasion! Love the stitched panel and the layering of the vellum over the DSP. Your skeleton looks great and not scary or gruesome at all. Well done! Oh my, Cassidy's facial expression was priceless when she could not figure this piece of cardstock becoming a box!!! So glad you have a little one who takes interest in learning new crafty things! Can't wait to see the box when it's finished! TFS and stay warm today! It's quite cold out!

  9. This is too cute to spook LeAnne! The apple green was the prefect choice for this, typical orange would have been boring!
