Happy Sunday, peeps! Hope you're having a great weekend so far! Jaydee is our hostess at the Players this week with a very versatile sketch:
I had another one of those sleepless nights recently, and I was tossing this sketch around in my head and when I came up with my idea, I got up and went to work...hubby was snoring, so there was no use in me trying to sleep, LOL! I remembered the pretty set, Decorate A Daisy, and I thought it would look nice with some Delightful Daisy DSP:
It's pretty simple all-over; I used a technique I saw in the latest Stampin Success magazine (a magazine for demonstrators) that uses the Stamparatus in a two-step process; adhere your stamp to the plate and stamp in your desired color; clean the stamp without removing it, then ink and stamp again with Versamark ink! This allows you to emboss it in clear embossing powder and thereby allowing you to have an embossed image in any color you want! Pretty slick! I inked my daisy in Daffodil Delight and once I heat-embossed it, colored the flower in with my Blends...it filled in between the embossed lines like a dream! I stamped the center in Night of Navy and punched it out before adhering it to my flower:
I stamped and fussy-cut the banner after stamping some words from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous, then cut the banner into two pieces and fit them under my daisy:
I used the same set for my inside sentiment, filling in with a couple of Daffodil Delight flowers:
Such a fun, cheerful card...it's going to a special someone, too! I hope you'll play with our sketch this week, it's always fun to see what you creative souls come up with! Share it at the Paper Players, and meanwhile, check out what the DT did:
Cassidy not only got new shades, but took a selfie of herself wearing them!!

This is such a bright and cheerful card LeAnne - the yellow/navy colour combo is always a winner in my book! Great daisy embossing tip too - I feel like I’m still not using my Stamparatus much yet, even though when I do I love it. A great take on this week’s sketch - love Cassidy’s selfie too, she is growing up fast!
ReplyDeleteThat stamp goes perfect with our DSP...sad to see it retiring but happy to know Wood Textures stayed. Those are quite the shades!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheerful card! That's a great sentiment and having it as the flower centre is such a great idea. Lovely work again, LeAnne.
ReplyDeleteBright and cheery - Love the yellow and blues together. And that sounds like a fantastic technique!
ReplyDeleteNow this is a happy card! Is so sunny and pretty LeAnne, love it. Tell Cassidy I like her new shades!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great technique...your card is beautiful! So bright and cheery. The colors are awesome!
ReplyDeleteHaha LeAnne,
ReplyDeleteI have had many sleepless nights where i mapped out cards in my mind, but sometimes I’ve been known to get up and knock a couple off then have a great sleep after. All your dreaming this up was worth it, the DSP is perfect, your floral cheerful and its going to rock someones world to own this one and display it for a long time.
Your little one looks like they are enjoying their new “peepers”
Blessings,
Barb
Pretty card.....and great tip on the embossing!
ReplyDeleteWow! This card screams sunshine and summer...love the navy and yellow color combo and the DSP is so fun! I hope you're having a great week ~ Hugs, Annie.
ReplyDeleteLeanne... I truly love the sentiment on this card (and the patterned paper is adorable!)
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, isn't it crazy we think about card layouts when we should be sleeping? The difference is, I never get up. LOL! Well, your great idea is fabulous! I love the blue and yellow color combo! So cheerful and bright! the daisy and DSP is perfect together! Thanks for the tip on using Versa Mark on top of ink for embossing! Cassidy looks so cute! She is growing up too quickly! XX
ReplyDeleteYour card is spring-fresh as a daisy, LeAnne! Love the colors, and great tip about the double stamping. I'll have to try that with my Misti.
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I love that Daisy background and I am in love with the sentiment in the middle of your focal point daisy. Wonderful take on the sketch
