Happy Sunday, peeps! Claire is our Paper Players hostess today with one of my favorite themes:
Halloween stamps follow a close second to Christmas stamps in my stamp library! I keep telling myself that I don't need any more, but this little fellow just jumped in my cart when I was stamp-shopping in Scotland! It's actually American-made by a company called Deep Red, but in my mind, he's a Scottish scarecrow, LOL!
The image was perfect for the Freshly Made Sketches sketch for this week:
I must have had the black background from our challenge picture in my mind, because I kept turning to the black woodgrain paper from an older MME pad called Frightful for my background; I thought it worked with the pen-and-ink style artwork on my image. I stamped my not-so-scary little guy in Stazon ink and then colored him with an aquapainter and various colors of ink:
Since my background was stark white, I inked up my Linen background stamp with Smoky Slate ink, stamped off on some scrap paper and stamped right over top the whole image. I also added a little shading around his body with a blender pen and a light touch of Smoky Slate ink. My sentiment is from My Creative Time's Mixed Holiday Sentiments, stamped in Cajun Craze. I cut the main panel into a banner shape, added mats of Cajun Craze and Old Olive, and finished it off simply with some Candy Dots! He's spooky but cute!
I hope you'll play along with our Halloween challenge this week! Will you do scary or silly? So many choices! Check out what the designers did here:

Cassidy went to a wedding as her daddy's date yesterday, but it seems as if there might have been someone closer to her age to pal around with!

ReplyDeleteSuch great details on this card that make it so cool, especially how you stamped over it all with the gray linen stamp image. I also like the black woodgrain card base. Nice picture of you in Scotland too.
ReplyDeleteLeAnne this scarecrow and your coloring of it is absolutely gorgeous! I love the texture of the paper, too. What a stand-out card. Love your Scotland pic too, looks like it was a wee bit chilly!
ReplyDeleteOh how cool! This image is super and I adore the way you've coloured him. Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute pumpkin scarecrow! Love his fancy jacket and the flower in his lapel. Great idea to use the Linen background stamp on the white. I still have that one and many more SU! backgrounds. Good to see it in use! I've collected quite a few Halloween stamps and digis over the years, but don't get many Halloween cards made, darn it. Maybe it's because I have so many October birthdays. Guess I'll have to start sooner. Anyway, I did have fun playing along in this challenge today!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I just love your Scottish Scarecrow! Such a fun stamp and so special that you got him on vacation! The black woodgrain background is perfect! He just pops off the card! Your coloring is fabulous and the linen background looks fabulous! Thank you for making my challenge shine this week, My Friend! XX
