Happy Thursday, peeps! My card today uses the Freshly Made Sketches sketch as well as the CASology cue of "pink"!
There are all these cards with wonderfully fluid watercolor backgrounds out in blogland and I've not been able to recreate that look! But I persevered with some SU watercolor paper, as my other watercolor paper just didn't cut the mustard, and got a little bit closer to what I was aiming for! I played around with some water and Melon Mambo ink and came up with this; do you think it's pink enough?:
I had a couple of champagne glimmer paper stars floating around on my desk, so I thought it would be fun to create a sparkly, girly birthday card, so I cut some strips of gold foil paper and gold washi and cut the ends with a pair of deckle-edged scissors...remember THOSE?! Hah, I still have mine! The sentiment is from Watercolor Wishes, also stamped in Melon Mambo:
I added a smattering of stars cut with a Verve die and attached them inside and out! My card base is Naturals White, and I stamped the sentiment from Suite Sayings in Melon Mambo as well....look at the difference on the two types of cardstock!
Another birthday card to add to my stash!
Uh-oh, this is what happens when overly-imaginative children play with markers:
You get chicken-poxed babies!!! Look at the expression on that poor baby's face!!!! Thankfully, it was a washable marker! Enjoy your day!
I love that pink and gold combo, LeAnne! The pretty gold really looks striking on the water colored pink background. I hope Cassidy doesn't catch those chicken pox...if only her doll could color too! Lol
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous LeAnne! I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, LeAnnne. I always struggle making a watercolor wash background but yours is perfect! Great take on both challenges! And I hope Dolly is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteOh I DO think it's pink enough to be perfect!!! One more strip and that could go right over to this week's CTS, LeAnne - feel another water-colored wonder coming on?? I'm feeling myself digging around for those scissors!! Cassidy I'm sure you made your baby feel all-better! xx

The bright pink & gold are just perfect together! I love the deckle edges and feel inspired to pull my scissors out of deep storage (somehow they always survive a purge of the craft room). Thanks so much for joining us at the CASology challenge this week, LeAnne!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet I have memories of pocked baby dolls.. now mine is 36..how did that happen.. I love your card, but I too suffer trying to make the watercolor background.. do you use reinkers or sort of paint it on?? Help your people await an answer :)
ReplyDeleteI think there's plenty of pink and I LOVE the sparkly gold stars you added! Very pretty LeAnne! Poor baby :(
