Happy Leap Day, everyone! I must say, even though February is the shortest month of the year, it feels like this month will NEVER end! I am happy to turn the calendar to March tomorrow!
I was reading my latest Southern Living magazine and came across this ad for some bedding from The Company Store:
The colors intrigued me, and since I needed a birthday card, I decided to try to replicate the design. In hindsight, I wish I had used Marina Mist instead of Lost Lagoon, but otherwise, I am happy with it:
The card base is Smoky Slate, and I used Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow and Cameo Coral for my ink colors. I outlined each floral image on the background with a white gel pen (and I see I missed one at the top...boo). The stamps I used were Flower Patch, Endless Thanks and Summer Silhouettes along with a sentiment from Remembering Your Birthday, and I used the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary:
I used Cottage Greetings for the inside, stamping the flowers in Basic Black and using a blender pen and ink to color them in:
Do you ever get inspiration from pictures or people's clothing (that happens to me in church, LOL!)? I am interested in hearing where others get their inspiration! Thanks so much for popping by today! And I don't think I ever shared this photo from Valentine's, when Cassidy lined up all her gifts. "Lovey" the hedgehog was by far the favorite, almost edging out Lambie for top billing!!!
I really like that quilt, and you sure did a great job using it for inspiration! That was a fun and creative idea. The colors are so bright and pretty...really makes me feel like spring is on the way. Cute pic of Cassidy too...looks like she got some fun things!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week LeAnne!
I love your card, and the inspirational piece. I love looking to textiles for inspiration, and should do it more often. You may have just inspired my next card. I went on quite a fabric buying spree last week with my sisters for some quilts. 4 hours in a fabric wearhouse, choosing 26 fabrics for a quilt my sister is going to make. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteVery cute card, you make me want to outline with gel pens. Sitting in church, getting card ideas from people's clothing, yep! Not to mention the outdoor scenes on the worship screen.
ReplyDeleteHi LeeAnn, yes I do too , when I see a pattern or or anything that catches my , I get an idea ,lol
ReplyDeleteBut you did beautiful on your card, love it !! ❤️

Oh wow, that card is gorgeous. Love that you were inspired from a magazine. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove your inspiration, LeAnne! I gained my inspiration from a Bath and Body Works lotion bottle this week! Thanks for playing with us at Create with Connie and Mary!
ReplyDeleteGreat card, LeAnne! Love how you used the ad to inspire you. Thanks for sharing the inspiration pix. I laughed when you said that about finding it in SL this month because I had seen it too. I often think fabric patterns mimic DSP when I'm in a fabric store and I keep a file on my phone of color combos I like when I'm out shopping!
ReplyDeleteOh wow did you ever capture the essence of that photo, what a pretty card!! Cute photo of Cassidy, sweet little hedgie!
ReplyDeleteWow! GREAT card!
ReplyDeleteI love the background you have created - especially the white outlines on the flowers! Great use of the sketch with this inspiration piece - such a pretty card all around! Thank you for joining us at Create with Connie and Mary!
ReplyDeleteWow! I thought the background was DSP! LOVE how you were inspired! The gel pen around the image really makes it pop! Yes, I frequently check out home decor for inspiration, especially with new colors! Thanks for playing along with the sketch challenge this time on Create with Connie and Mary!
ReplyDeleteOh my word...I LOVE how you 'created' your own dsp...AMAZING!!! I was looking at it trying to figure out what paper pack that was from - I would have never guessed! Thanks for playing along this week in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great visual inspiration LeAnne - and an equally great card to boot! Love the background stamped panel too and the colour combo. I too often get inspiration from the strangest things - curtain patterns are one of my most common ones!
