Happy Sunday, peeps! It’s time for another Paper Players challenge and our hostess Jaydee has a fun one!
I love making square cards…I usually make mine 4 1/4” square so they still fit inside a regular envelope! Today, my card uses the colors from Just Add Ink:
and I used a new-to-me photopolymer set called Banner Blessings as well as a retired Banner Blast set:
I embossed my Crumb Cake base with the Large Polka Dot EF. I stamped my sentiment in Bermuda Bay and embossed the sides of my horizontal panel with the Stripes EF. Then I stamped the banners in the challenge colors, punching them out with the Banner punch:
You can see just a wee bit of another row of solid banners peeking out from behind! Finally, I added a faux button and some Bermuda Bay baker’s twine for some interest .And since this uses stripes and dots, I am entering it in The Male Room’s Stripes and Spots challenge this week as well! Hope that little bow of baker’s twine doesn’t seem too “unmasculine”! I need several thank you cards, so I might just do a few of these!
I hope you are challenged to make a square card this week with us too…the DT has some fabulous samples! Check them out:
This is what I’ve been doing in some of my “spare” time:
(Not including the griddle from breakfast, LOL!). ARGHHHH! But I do find that little "plink" sound they make when they seal strangely satisfying! Reminds me of my mom canning on the farm when I was a little girl! Fortunately I have this too:
what a fun card, LeAnne! I always meant to get that Banner Blessings set as I love the sentiments. Hopefully, it's still available and I didn't miss it on a retirement list. I also love the embossing you did on the sides - what a great idea! That large polka dot EF is also on my wish list...
ReplyDeleteAll those canning jars look so good! I canned one summer and haven't done it since (primarily for the very reason you showed - all those dishes!). Plus, it's super hard to can on a glass topped electric stove. :( I see in the background that you have the same oven I do - how do you manage to keep the temperature consistent for water bath canning?
What a beautiful card LeAnne! I love the sentiment and the colors are perfect. The banners top your card off perfectly! I remember canning as a kid too...everything is a mess, but we sure loved to eat all it during the winter. :)
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I love this fun card! The color combo is fabulous and all those dots make me smile! Such a great sentiment and the little banners look super!
ReplyDeleteThose canned goodies look amazing. My Mom always canned all summer. I miss that! I never acquired that skill. I am so impressed! You will sure enjoy all of those treats this winter! XX
Wow, I just love everything about your card, especially the colour combinations and those darling little banners! Your 'after' canning photo made me laugh out loud, you are brave to show that mess!!
ReplyDeleteI know, Rachel, I am brave!! Thankfully it didn't take too long to clean up!
DeleteI have to ask if the 'red stuff' you canned is beets; if so, I have the best suggestion for slicing them: use that egg slicer thing once the beets are cooked!!! I hope you know which 'thing' I mean; I discovered how convenient it is to use back when I had a garden......
ReplyDeleteHi Kat! Yes, they were beets! I'll have to try the egg slicer, although some of ours are bigger than a baseball! No egg slicer for them! Thanks for the suggestion!
DeleteThis is such a sweet card, LeAnne! Love all the polka dots and stripes. The idea to emboss the ends of the panel is brilliant--love the look! I'm jealous of your garden and your canning--I've never canned in my life but how great to have all that garden goodness in winter!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I love the stripes on the white sentiment layer and those banners are perfect below the sentiment, especially with the large polka dot base. You captured so much movement and texture on your card. Fabulous

ReplyDeleteI love how you added the bakers twine..and the banners are so cute! I'm partial to the polka dot embossing too...nice touch.

ReplyDeleteI love all those colorful banners on your festive card! Fun! Your kitchen looks like less fun after all that hard work of canning.....whew! I've been freezing which is less time, but my freezer is jam packed, and I pray I don't have an avalanche every time I open the door! lol You should get in the pool with Cassidy and chill for a while, eh? :)
ReplyDeleteCute card- I love the double banners! And ugh! Canning dishes! The output is wonderful but the cost of doing business can be expensive. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWow you're a busy women..:0) Great card LeeAnn, the banners are a great way to use the challenge colours, love the patterns and texture. Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink.
