Happy Sunday, peeps! Hope you’re having a great weekend! Jaydee is our hostess at the Paper Players today and she’s got a clean and simple challenge for us today! Check it out:
So here we go!
This card is probably a bit more elaborate than my typical “clean and simple” card, which usually tends to be one layer, but I really wanted to use some of my new goodies, and the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary fit my plan! Here’s the sketch:
New goodies that I used were: Watermelon Wonder & Cucumber Crush inks, Friendly Wishes stamp set, Cherry on Top DSP and Cotton Paper and Watermelon Wonder cardstock!
I cut rectangles of the Cherry on Top DSP and stacked them up, embellishing them with a wee strip of the Cotton paper in Cucumber Crush….it’s a very thin paper, heavier than tissue paper, but very flexible and fun to use! My “thx” diecut is from the Circle Card thinlet, and I hand-cut the hearts out. Embossing is with Decorative Dots EF!
I hope you’ll play along with us this week with Jaydee’s fun challenge! Check out what the other designers did as well:
Cassidy’s last day of preschool was Wednesday, although she will have a “graduation” ceremony this week! Dana put these two photos together of the first and last days…..how quickly they grow up!
Enjoy your day!
Ok. You are just teasing me with the cherry on top paper! It is so cute and I love how you used it on this card, too. I love all that white space..really makes the papers and sentiment pop!
ReplyDeleteWow, she is growing up quickly! What a great idea to take the pics. But is does make one want to freeze time, doesn't it? So cute!
Fun and fabulous card! I also love the 1st day/last day photos! She is such a beautiful little girl! :)
ReplyDeleteOh these colors are so perfect together--fun and happy. Great idea to use the cotton paper like ribbon--can't wait to play with some of it. Love these pics of Cassidy--she's just adorable!
ReplyDeleteA fun cheerful card! My first visit to your blog. I'm intrigued by the bright pink border, can you give details? Love those little cross stitches on it. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I am so thrilled you visited my blog! The bright pink border is the new In Color Watermelon Wonder, and it was punched with SU's Scallop Edge punch, and then I embossed it with a little stitched embossing folder that SU had called Needlepoint Border. It is (sadly) retired, but perhaps you can find it on ebay somewhere!!!
DeleteI hope you come back to visit soon!
How wonderful to see the comparison between the first and last day of preschool. Cassidy does look more grown up doesn't she? Such a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet card today. I really like what you did with the cotton paper. Cotton Paper??.....very intriguing. The DSP is so pretty too.
It doesn't feel much like cotton, it feels more like plastic....it's very thin and a bit hard to manipulate unless you cut it in smaller pieces. I am interested in seeing what others do with it!
DeleteSo pretty. Love the colors and papers.
ReplyDeleteCassidy has really grown. She is adorable.
Well, my friend - this is gorgeous, with a cherry on top! I love that green and red pairing against the white - so very clean and fresh and that sentiment panel with the diecut 'thx' just pops! Love the cotton trim and border edge too. As for Miss Cassidy - where does the time go?! I hope she has a fun graduation this week. xx
ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect card for this time of year LeAnne! Love the little cherries and the mix of patterns. I can't believe how much Cassidy has grown this past year. She still had a sweet baby face when she started pre-school and has sprouted into such a pretty little girl!!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your cards, but I love getting the comparison shots of Cassidy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dona!
DeleteLeAnne, I adore all the bright, cheery colors and mix of patterns! Such a fun card!
ReplyDeleteMiss Cassidy sure has grown up this year! She is such a cutie! Off to Kindergarten soon! XX
Thanks, Claire...and I can hardly believe she'll be in kindergarten soon!
DeleteFabulous card, LeAnne with so much interest and texture! Love the ribbon treatment, too. Cassidy is adorable :)
ReplyDeleteYOU are the best for making this card!!! I absolutely love these new colours together and I am totally digging what you've done here. It looks almost retro rockabilly with the cherries, the ribbon and the sentiment font. Fabulous card! Thanks for joining us this week at Create with Connie and Mary. :)

DeleteI just love seeing what you are doing with new products, LeAnne! I think my favorite part of this card is the adorable paper with the cherries. That is most definately on my wish list. Wow, Cassidy grew alot in just a few months! Her face looks so much more grown up, too. I'm sure she thinks so!
ReplyDeleteSuch nice BRIGHT cheery colors...love all the new products on here! I just got back from Hawaii and am chomping to get in my stamp room and play with the new goodies waiting for me! Thanks for playing along with the sketch challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary! (Love to see how big Cassidy is getting, too!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Connie! Hope you enjoyed that wonderful trip!
DeleteWhat a wonderful use of the new in-colors here to make a bright, cheerful card for someone special! I love all of the little details that still make you think clean and simple. Love it, LeAnne!!
ReplyDeleteI love the overall 'clean' feeling of your card yet all the pops of color just sets off the white even more! Perfect use of the sketch and the girly thank theme! Thanks for playing along this week in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling card! Love this paper and the patterns you chose for your card! Glad to see how the cotton paper can be used.. I am curious about it. : ) Thanks for joining us at Create with Connie and Mary for the sketch challenge this week!
ReplyDeleteMargaret, this "cotton" paper does NOT feel like cotton at all...more like very thin plastic, so just be prepared! I am anxious to use it for some other applications to see how it works! Thanks for popping by, too!
DeleteLeAnne, I love the watermelon and cucumber together - they really are bright, but work so well with each other. I can't wait to try the cotton paper! Fabulous card, my friend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteJaydee
