Happy Wednesday, peeps! We got some snow yesterday, but the sun came out later and it was just such a pretty day! Still cold though! Sadly, I needed a sympathy card, and it was a perfect day to stay inside and stamp. I used the Technostamper sketch and the Retro Rubber challenge to use eyelets :
Wow….I had to go looking on my shelf for my eyelets, but I was able to find them and paired them with some DSP from last year, and an Artistic Outpost image that I love to use for these kind of cards:
I originally had planned to put the checked strip across the bottom in front of the stamped image, but I didn’t like how it looks, so I used my Xacto tool to cut out the bottom part of the image, which was stamped directly on a piece of My Minds Eye DSP from my stash, and laid it over the checked DSP. I used a ticket die from Simon Says Stamp for my sentiment from Petite Pairs, stamped in Island Indigo. My eyelets are old Bordering Blue ones, but they match the colors fairly well:
Thanks for popping by!
Learning to do some “sewing” on sewing cards…remember these? Although her patience level was too low to do the whole thing!
Ahhhh eyelets! I still have several....hundred! Such fun to pound them in! Vintage and blue.....the perfect LeAnne card....love it! And only only sewing I have ever done in my life was on those cards when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful sympathy card! The image, the patterned paper and the eyelets all work so well together!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your card this morning I said out loud Oh that is pretty. I love the colors and texture.
ReplyDeleteSewing card what a great toy. Next think you know she will be at your sewing machine. Thais s so great to see. Did I tell you my step son and family are moving in with us and I will have a baby in the house soon. We are helping the save some money and they are going to help us with our house and yard work. I am excited to have that baby in the house.
Beautiful sympathy card, LeAnne. I love that image too and looks fantastic stamped on the DSP! I have tubes of eyelets....somewhere!
ReplyDeleteLove the sewing cards! Brings back memories! Cassidy is concentrating!
Wow - stunning sympathy card. You know I'm loving the vintage feel and the blues here. That image is gorgeous. I really must see if I can find it somewhere. You've got a wonderful mix of DPs that all work so well together.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Cassidy's patience will lengthen with time and she'll be able to finish her sewing off in no time flat;)
A very well thought out card, Leanne! I love how you used the eyelets! It does not seem appropriate to say "great card" when it is a sympathy card, but the recipient will feel the love and attention you gave it. Well done combining the two challenges! And, congrats on being our top pick in the last RRBC challenge... definitely looking forward to you continuing to play along with us!
ReplyDeleteThis stamp is the perfect peaceful scene for a sympathy card LeAnne and those pretty blues put it over the top! Cassidy looks like she's really in the groove, too bad it didn't last long!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for a sympathy card.I like the eyelets, too.
ReplyDeleteI DO remember those sewing cards..looks fun!
This is such a sweet card and Cassidy as always looks so cute!
ReplyDeleteEyelets! I've got tons of those! Funny how things fall out of fashion in the crafting world. Glad you could put them to good use on your sympathy card. It's never a good thing when we need those, but I'm sure the recipient will treasure your kindness.
ReplyDeleteLeeAnne, Your card is so soft and will be much appreciated by your friend during this difficult time. Great use for the eyelets. I love the picture of your granddaughter making her project! Priceless!
