Happy Monday, everyone! Back to work, school, whatever! But it’s also Merry Monday, and Lesley has another gorgeous inspiration photo for us today:
I love these white-on-white challenges, but my cards never turn out quite as I envision! I wanted to use some white felt to make snowflakes, but my felt was so soft, the flakes kept tearing apart! I adhered some Adhesive Sheet to the back and that worked better, but I still wasn’t achieving the look I wanted. I finally opted to do ONE snowflake, some snowflake embossing and a bold sentiment:
My upline gifted me with these beautiful Frosted Finishes embellishments, so one went in the center of my snowflake:
and I did a double diecut, one of white, a second of Sahara Sand, and offset them a little to make the sentiment really pop out:
And finally, I stamped the inside, again with Sahara Sand:
I did do another vanilla-on-vanilla card, this time using a technique my friend Billie told me about: stamp on your card; spray a used dryer sheet with adhesive; stick it on your stamped image and cover it with glitter. It’s too bad you can’t get the full “wow” effect of this:
I added a sentiment stamped on a shortened Chalk Talk die:
Believe it or not, this card took about 15 minutes, as opposed to, well, let’s say “MUCH LONGER” for the first one!!!
Hope you are inspired by this lovely photo and will share your creation with us as well. You can see all the beautiful white-on-white cards on Lesley’s blog, Always Playing with Paper!
Making Grampy another cake (he likes cake!):
By the way, I purchased this little apron at a craft fair over the weekend, and she LOVES it….for $5, it was a bargain! Enjoy your day! If you have any questions, shoot me an email! ♥
Wow, these are both beautiful creations, LeAnne! Love the clean all white look. The technique with the second one is very cool and I bet it looks amazing in person, though I'll never try it because I'm a glitter phobe :-0

ReplyDeleteHello, LeAnne! Your granddaughter is too stinkin' cute in that adorable apron!! And Grampy is so lucky to get so much cake! My dad loved to take the cake pan, a fork, and a glass of milk to his chair and watch some tv while eating cake! As for your card, I think the final result is very pretty, even if it's not what you envisioned! :)

ReplyDeleteTwo amazing cards LeAnne. I LOVE all the dimension on your first card ... wow, from the embossing, to the felt die-cut, to the layered sentiments (great tip for making it pop by offsetting a darker color underneath - thanks for that!), to the gorgeous jewel in the center of the poinsettia - it's fabulous.

ReplyDeleteHow does the glitter adhere to the dryer sheet? ?
ReplyDeleteOriana, I couldn't reply directly to you as I don't have your email address, but here is a link as to how to do the dryer sheet technique. You will need a spray adhesive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Lf7JLh_Vq4
