Hello there, peeps! Squeaking in another post today---I am combining a couple of challenges today for a birthday card I needed! I used the Pals Paper Arts sketch 159”
along with the beautiful colors from the Play Date Café, for which the deadline is fast approaching:
I had a wee bit of trouble with the maroon color, but I squeezed it in on my flowers!:
I didn’t really like Poppy Parade when it first came out; now I wish it would come back! What a great shade of red! I used some papers from last year’s Domestic Goddess pack, as the prints and colors were perfect for the challenge!
I don’t have any new photos of Cassidy to share, but I was able (amazingly!!!) to snap a couple pictures of my elusive oriole. I knew where he was in the tree, so I just aimed my camera and took a couple of shots. This tree was probably 50’ away from me! These are cropped and enlarged, so they’re not real clear, but good enough to get a view:
On another bird note, as I was parking my car in my driveway yesterday, a huge pileated woodpecker flew right across my field of vision! I was dumbfounded! I had seen one in the woods once, so to have him fly so close to me and close to the ground….my head was in the clouds! Enjoy your day!
Another stunner LeAnne! Love this...color challenges freak me out...and you nail them EVERY time! TFS and have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLove that retired DSP - pretty card! And you are observant for sure! Have to have a good eye to catch those critters!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the Oriole pics and when I first moved to MN I saw a Pileated Woodpecker make mulch out of a dying tree. I was amazed. Love your card by the way too.
ReplyDeleteI love these colors! And the card you made, oh so cute!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great colour combo and well done using the sketch. We have several pileated woodpeckers here -- one was all over our rock wall looking for bugs yesterday. Even have one of the big red headed ones which is beyond stunning! They often sit our swing set LOL! Nature is truly amazing!! Glad you got visited :)
ReplyDeleteSO Cute! I love that paper! Perfect match with the challenge!
ReplyDeleteVery refreshing card! Your "baby" is getting so big and old! How fortunate to spy the special birds in your space. I would love a pileated stamp. I always liked the Poppy Parade color, so it's good to see it again.
ReplyDeleteLovely card. I have a notion to order more of this DSP on clearance it's so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI love you bird story. I've never seen a Baltimore Oriole so I looked up the sounds so I could see if I van spot one someday too. Heading to our place in the WI woods next weekend. Hubby says there aren't many leaves yet so good bird watching :-)

Beautiful card and beautiful bird picture! A few years ago my son spotted one at our feeder, and he just had to call me to tell me about it! I'm looking forward to the day we have a yard to put up a feeder again.
ReplyDeleteI love this card! The patterned paper is so fresh, and I love the flower! So glad you could join us for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge! I am a huge bird fan, too - I jumped up and down when I saw my first pileated WP... it is always a treat to spot one!
ReplyDeleteSo very crisp and fresh, love it. Thank you for coming to play with us at The Cafe this week! :)
ReplyDeleteadorable card! love these colors! when did you change your blog header?? love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors and flower on the card! Amazing pictures of your oriole. And imagine the Pileated Woodpecker flying so close. We've been hearing a bird calling in the woods and wonder if it's a pileated woodpecker. Haven't seen one yet though. We did have a downy one day last week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Leanne, hope you are well. ~Diane
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Leanne! I'm with you -- I wish that Poppy Parade would come back too ... unlike you though, I loved it from the start!! So much nicer than Real Red I'm afraid!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome card! I love the background paper and the gingham! Everything is so well balanced.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card! All of the little details are simply delightful. Thanks for playing at PPA!
