Sadly, I found out yesterday that I needed a sympathy card; the husband of one of my college roommates passed away after a short battle with cancer. It really shook me up; we have been through divorces and children issues, but no deaths. She is seven hours away, so I can’t be with her but I wanted to make a comforting card for her:
Although I didn’t use any My Favorite Things stamps, I did use their layout for this week:
I used a plethora of different stamps with some pretty MME papers from the Lost & Found Market Street line. An Our Daily Bread Designs verse graced the main panel,
and I did some collage stamping on the back panel.
I also added pearls, crochet trim, velvet ribbon and shabby ribbon, and sponged and distressed some of the edges. I just love these greens together! Although it was for a sad occasion, it was nice to stamp something non-Christmas. As always, if you have questions, just email me!
Well, even though my card is non-Christmas, the festivities are in full swing at the Pugliese household, which includes making cookies, or at least licking the spoon:
My posts may be more sporadic here in the next couple weeks, but I promise to share a few more cookie-making adventures when I do!
It's always hard making that card for someone we are close to. You did a great job and I love the big bold sentiment on it mixed with your lovely ribbon.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, what a terrible shock. I think the card you're sending will be so comforting to your friend. It's truly beautiful in a peaceful, understated way.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, what could be more enchanting than a cutie making cookies? She's just lovely :)
OH LeAnne, I am so sorry you can't be with your friend. Your card is busy and I love that passage. So good you are getting Cassie in the kitchen early. LOL! Have a great day. Hugs, Bev
ReplyDeleteLeAnne so sorry to hear about your friends husband, it is so sad. This is such a beautiful card that you made for her, she will be so comforted. Cassidy is enjoying the holidays I see. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh My! Your card is just magnificent!! The colors, design, just everything about it is wonderful. And so is our darling Ms C.
ReplyDeleteSympathy cards are so hard to make when you are close to the recipient. This is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWow, LeAnne, I am amazed that you have been getting cards made along with everything else. Do you sleep? I'm sorry you had such a sad occasion to make a card for, but it is serene and beautiful! I've enjoyed all the other blogs I've just read and caught up on. Thank you for brightening my day with that pretty Christmas card.
ReplyDeleteThat is one complicated sketch and one gorgeous card! And I am with Bonnie - when do you sleep? Your assistant looks like she has things well in hand!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, what a beautiful sympathy card. You will touch your friend's heart with your love poured out in this beauty. I love the pearls and the ribbon and bow. This is a wonderful verse to share with your friend.
ReplyDeleteCassidy has the best job of the cooking making.....looks like she loves it too;)
Love that verse. So hard to be far away from good friends who are hurting. Sure this lovely card will bring her great comfort in your absence. ((hugs)) to you.
ReplyDeleteHad to giggle at Cassidy. That picture could be me doing the same thing - love liking cookie dough off the spoon LOL!
This is so beautiful, LeAnne... I'm sure she will appreciate it. So sorry that she is going through such a tough time through the holidays. Have a wonderful holiday, enjoy that sweet GD growing up! :) *hugs*
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I also just got this set and am loving it. It's such a pretty set and I love that you captured the flowers in a circle. I need to copy that idea!:-) I love your MFT card, too. Beautiful.
