3D Star Ornament

DSCF1381
Happy Friday, peeps!  Yay!  Tonight starts our church’s Live Nativity…an exciting time for all the community as we share the true story of Christmas in a rural setting, under the cold starry skies (hopefully they will be clear), with real animals and Biblical characters!!  We even have a host of heavenly angels!  I am always inside serving hot chocolate and cookies, so I usually don’t have time to get pictures, but maybe this year will be different!  If I do, I’ll share them with you!
For today’s project, I wanted to share an ornament I made for Cassidy.  I usually hand-sew her an ornament, and I may still do that, but I saw a pattern for a 3D star in the current issue of Better Homes and Gardens, and I wanted to try my hand at it.  (You can find it here.)  After a trial run, I made one I was happy with:

I know it is a bit difficult to see here because of the muted colors, but it is really pretty!  I used a big glimmer paper snowflake from a SU scrapbook kit and mounted it on the front of the star with some hot glue.  I glittered up a little Melissa Frances vintage sticker and hot glued it on top of the snowflake…added a silver hanging cord and it was done!

To give it a little extra strength, because the star itself is made out of DP, I added a circle of Naturals White on the back, and added Cassidy’s name and date.  Do you like this font?  I downloaded it free from The Graphics Fairy!  LOVE IT!!  I am also submitting this to this week's CASology challenge, which is "sparkle"!

I will say there is a little trial and error to figure out the scoring on the star, but once I got it down, it wasn’t hard at all!  I am sure I’ll be making a few more of these and I’ll figure out all the shortcuts, LOL!  As always, if you have any questions, please shoot me an email!  And thanks for visiting!
Puzzle time!
