Happy Wednesday, peeps! Another sketch for Freshly Made Sketches, and this one is mine! Yep, the sweet girls at FMS asked Narelle and me each to design a sketch for this month! Here you go:
This is what I call my “go-to” layout; if I need a quick card, this is usually the sketch I use! You can alter the size of the two panels easily, especially if you’re using a scrap of something. I find that SU’s designer paper usually has complementary patterns on either side, so just taking a piece, cutting it and flipping it over so you have two patterns from the same sheet works wonderfully! In fact, that’s what I did with my card here; this one uses Fan Fair designer paper:
My focal point is also from Fan Fair; one sheet has lots of scrapping (or cardmaking) elements, and I trimmed it down to fit my card. I added some additional elements from Established Elegance and French Foliage, some Raspberry Ripple ribbon and pearls. Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card for a friend who lost her daughter very suddenly, so I chose a sentiment from Blessings from Heaven. I also added some Jelly Roll ink sparkle to the bee’s wings….usually it annoys me when the sparkle makes the ink bleed, but I liked it this time:
I hope this brings a small bit of comfort to her and her family. And I hope you’ll play along with my sketch this week too! Check out the other designers’ take on it at the Freshly Made Sketches blog!
Discovering falling leaves!
Such a pretty card and a great, versatile sketch. Very serene. I also have the same problem with the ink bleeding when I use the liquid sparkles.
ReplyDeleteIf Cassidy is interested in falling leaves, i have 8 billion in my yard I would be happy to share with her!!
Really pretty card LeAnne and yes Cassidy is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a beautiful card my friend. How tragic for your friend to lose her daughter. Going to Zumba today with my sister. Have a great day and I hope I survive. LOL! Hugs, Bev

very pretty, LeAnne! Do you know this has always been my "go to" sketch when I need a quick card? That being said, YOUR card is so much prettier and fancier. Perfect :)

ReplyDeleteThis is such a great sketch LeAnne! I love the colors of your card and the soft imagery.
ReplyDeleteHi LeAnne! I love your card! Especially how you used the DSP as a focal image on it's own and then adding the embellishments (ribbon, pearls, cut out images) around it. Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, LeAnne! The colors are so soothing. I love the collage effect you created!
ReplyDeleteHey LeAnne - it's a fabulous sketch - thanks for sharing it with us! Love these colours together. I didn't even know we had this gorgeous DSP - I better add it to my order tonight!
