I had a few extra stamping minutes yesterday and eagerly tackled a couple of challenges. Unfortunately, what was in my brain and what came out on paper wasn’t quite the same….it looks a bit mousey to me, and rather bland. I think my mojo got washed away with the rain! Here’s my card:
The challenge from Our Creative Corner, hosted by my sweet friend Anne Marie, featured a recipe: embossing, ribbon, brads or buttons and watercoloring. The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches for this week:
I chose some softly-colored papers from My Minds Eye and an herb image from Herb Expressions to watercolor. I am not sure whether the colors were just too soft or what, but it sort of falls flat! Another thing is that I rarely make Mother’s Day cards as my mother passed away in 2001 and my MIL passed away in 2010, so I really don’t have much reason to make one! Anyway, I enjoyed both challenges and I kept at it. In fact, I made this card, just using the sketch alone, as a simple “thank you” for one of my customers:
And Tuesday, before the sketch even came out, I had made this card….I had to chuckle when I saw the sketch, as it was so similar:
Both of these cards used some leftover cardstock that I had from another project; the card itself is about 3 1/2” wide, so it allowed me to hang the flower over the right edge and still fit in a standard-sized envelope! If you have any questions about any of these cards, shoot me an email!
Pardon the extreme sunglare in the bathtub! She seemed to think this was a fun place to play!!!
And we all got rid of playpens! LOL Now it is play tubs. So cute.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards and I love the layout. I love the first one with the embossed panel and the big flower on the last one. I need to get some made this morning.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Love the color combo on card one. Just lovely. Cool sketch too. Just add water and bubbles and I think it would be a fun place to play too.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a collection of beautiful cards! I just love the first one. The muted colors and the pretty patterns are really gorgeous! So glad you shared these with us at FMS!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, all of these cards are incredibly beautiful. Please don't make me pick a favorite! I especially love the first and third, probably because of the colors. Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!
ReplyDeleteHeehee- looks like a great place to play ;)
ReplyDeleteI do like your cards - the first is pretty - I like the soft colours. Love the 2nd one too though.
That's too funny that you had just done a card that pretty much fit the sketch the day before - great minds I guess:)
Your cards are always so pretty! I like all three, but the third one with the flower punched out really catches my eye. It's a fun sketch to work with, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI like all 3 of these cards. I don't think the first one is bland at all. Looks like it has a hint of vintage. I like the soft colors of it & I've always like the herb expressions set. Really like the floral dsp in the 3rd card. This looks like a great layout to work with. Think I may be able to work it in for my Mom's day cards.
ReplyDeleteI don't think your card falls flat at all! I think it's absolutely stunning! The soft colours are perfect for a Mother's Day card, and it was a great take on the sketch. I think you've sold yourself way too short on these ones!
ReplyDeleteToo funny that the card you made the other day fits perfectly with this week's FMS :)
You were one busy lady accomplishing all of those gorgeous cards! (Love that scrunchy ribbon!) And who knew how much fun an empty bathtub could be!
ReplyDeleteWow - what a treat! Three beautiful cards. The first one is my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely...all of them! I love the circular focal point and the ribbon is just beautiful! Thank you so much for joining us at Our Creative Corner this week!
ReplyDeleteMousey? No. Bland? Never! I love this card! And I adore your scrunchy ribbon! And you've certainly been busy with all these beauties!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards! I love the soft colors and ribbon on the first one, the simplicity of the second one and the lovely pink gingham flower on the third one. TFS
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful selection of cards! I like the idea of a narrow card with the flower hanging over. I'll have to try that.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness ... what a wonderful array of cards ...they are lovely, each and every one of them. As always I love your clean, stylish and elegant designs, but your recipe card with a touch of shabby and oh so chic ... is fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome and beautiful!!!
Each of these is so fresh and pretty! Just like that sweet little Cassidy!
ReplyDeleteWowza, LeAnne! You certainly made the most of your spare time! All of your cards came out beautifully. I have to tell you that I'm loving your card for the recipe challenge. Mousy? Pffft..NO way, lady! Soft, shabby and all-around faulous! Thanks for playing along at Our Creative Corner! Big hugs! :)
