FTL170 & TSTR92 & Live Nativity

DSCF0059

Happy Monday!  I made a quick little card this morning with lots of sparkle!  It’s for the Shabby Tea Room Challenge #92:

STR92

and used the Fall To Layout#170 from Clean & Simple:

FTL170

And here it is:

I am not sure that an image this detailed works so well with Heat & Stick powder and glitter…but I added it to my stash, so in the mail it will go!  Here’s the inside:

We had our Live Nativity this weekend at my church; it’s in a rural setting and we still have carriage sheds that were originally used when congregants drove their horse & buggies to church!  It makes for a perfect Live Nativity background:

Some scenes from the village:

A very affectionate goat:

Too bad my camera doesn’t have a “blue-eye reduction” for goats!

Shepherds with their flocks and cold little angels:

Joseph, Mary & baby Jesus:

Paco the burro (who has been participating in the Nativity for about 20 years!):

Two of the Wise Men:

A Roman centurian (inside giving the hot chocolate ladies a hard time!):

And it ends at the cross and the empty tomb:

I only got out for a few minutes on Friday night; the other times I was inside serving up lots & lots & lots of hot chocolate and cookies to the over 1000 visitors!  It was cold, clear & beautiful---a wonderful reminder of the true meaning of the season, away from the commercialism with which we are inundated daily.

Thanks for visiting—if you have any questions, please email me!

  1. What a beautiful evening for the true meaning of Christmas. We had our Live Nativity last night at church followed by a covered dish supper and served 101 guests. Wonderful night.

  3. I have heard of these live scenes and my in-laws on the Island have a church in the area who does it. They said it was amazing. Would love to walk it one day. What a wonderful way to refocus amidst the business of the season :) Love it!!

  4. Beautiful card and wonderful pictures! We could have had live scene this year in WI. it was 40 and we still don't have any snow. It is amazing.
Do the angels stay in that one spot all night or is the story told?
I got my tag punch today and I use it right away. I know I will be using it a lot. I had thought about just buying jewelry tags but with the punch you can make them all different not just white. The one I made today was gold. So much fun!!!!
    Thanks again!

  6. I think the sparkle really works with the image and the sentiment is the perfect finishing touch. Such great photos from the Live Nativity, LeAnne! Wow, they really went all-out. How cool that Paco has been part of the event for 20 years, too. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a wonderful event...although it also looks cold. I bet you were happy to have that hot cocoa nearby. :)
