ColourQ84 and Mojo190

DSCF6156

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I seem to be on a masculine kick these days because all these color challenges thrown at me have been deep earthy colors! Check out the palette Arielle has tossed our way today:

What a modern, edgy pillow! I shelved my first attempt at using these colors (more on that later) and opted for something a bit cleaner & simpler using the Mojo Monday 190 sketch:

Here we go:

CQC84-LeAnne #1

I tilted the “ribbon” to mimic the angle of the skateboard as well as give the card some visual interest. I was worried about how I would incorporate Daffodil Delight into a boy’s card, but I remembered a cool technique I hadn’t done in a while: use an acrylic block as a stamp. I inked a rectangular block in my DD ink and stamped it at an angle on my main image. The ink did not adhere to the center of the block, and that just happened to be where my skater was! Cool, huh? Here’s a closer look:

The rest of the card is straight-forward; jumbo grommet, glimmer brad, stars & neutral brads, and a sentiment from Verve’s Birthday Bash set.

Now, for my first card…you have to promise not to laugh too hard because I’ll know if you do. It just sort of kept morphing and turned into a nightmare:

CQC84-LeAnne #2

Reminds me of a square dance on steroids! I was trying to incorporate a sketch, colors, ruffles, buttons & bows…..just a little over the top! I do like the sketch, so I think I’ll just try again in a day or so! LOL Now here’s something I DO love:

Two more teeth popped through yesterday---which explains some fussiness! But she was a trooper! Thanks for visiting today!

  6. The skateboard card is great. Just love how you used all the elements on the card. Would love to see what you come up with on the redo of the square dance card. I think we all have cards that we've laid aside after we created them thinking "I could have done better on this". Your granddaughter is getting cuter all the time.
