PPA78 & WT307

DSCF6354

I have been wanting to make this card like this since the moment I saw SU’s Sew Suite set in the mini catalog!  I got my inspiration from Gwen’s blog header at Gwenny Penny, a really cute blog that features sewing and quick easy crafts.  When Arielle showed me her adorable sewing sentiments, I knew I could incorporate one of them into my card…and then, when I saw the SCS WT307 challenge today, which was “rainbows”, I KNEW today was the day!  This also (lamely) qualifies for the Pals Paper Arts challenge 78, which is to use bows on your card.  So here we go:

This is a rather long card, obviously!  It will fit in a business-size envelope nicely, though. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the spools evenly along my panel, stamped them with Stazon, then colored them with markers in Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo, and the spools in Crumb Cake.  I used a blender pen to make the highlights.  I printed out Arielle’s sentiment and used a Labels 4 Nestie to cut it out, then ran some black grosgrain ribbon through for my bow.  This card just makes me smile—clean & simple, bright, cheery spools of thread!!!

We had a big snowstorm yesterday---17” worth!!!  We have dodged the bullets that most of the northeast have gotten, but we got hit big time this go-round!  Here’s a couple pix:

  20. So pretty, LeAnne...both the card and the snow. ;) I love the phrase and I really like how you "threaded" the sentiment into the ribbon. Beautiful colors on those perfectly placed images. :)

  24. LeAnne,

Your coloring of these spools is fabulous. I did not know you could create highlights using the blender pen (which I have). Guess I had better try them out. How do you keep the paper from pilling? Do you use watercolor paper to start with? Great card and I will try to write an email with my questions!

    Love and blessings, Martha
