Woohoo! Today is the last Throwdown of 2009! The CTD girls will be taking a break until January, so make sure you check out the CTD blog to see all the details of this last challenge! Some good stuff out there today!
Tammy is our hostess this week and when I first saw these colors, I thought "Uh-oh!" (She likes to challenge me!) But when I looked through my Basic Grey papers, I found some perfect ones to make my project! So let's go!
My other DS (not this one) will be celebrating a certain milestone birthday next week!!! So I know she will be needing some thank-you cards, and she loves my cards and is one of my biggest fans, so I decided to make her a set of matching cards as her gift! My stamp set today is from There She Goes and it is called An Act of Kindness. I LOVE THIS SET!!! I just kept playing and playing with it, I could have gone on forever. Okay, enough gushing, on to the cards:
This set uses BG's Lemonade paper.....yummy!
And this set uses BG's Urban Prairie---sweet!
Since I was making several cards, I chose a very simple design. Each 6x6 piece of BG paper was cut in half twice, mounted on a piece of Real Red cardstock, then on either a Kiwi Kiss or Cool Caribbean mat and finally mounted on a SU notecard. Using the notecards, which are precut and prescored, saved LOTS of time! I stamped on the envies too, just for fun! The sentiment is stamped in Always Artichoke. A final pop of a Real Red-stamped flower, punched out with a 3/4" circle punch and jazzed up with a tiny little rhinestone, finished them off. Stop back tomorrow for a peek at the little folder I am making in which to present them to her!
Here are a couple closeups:
And just out of curiosity, do you like the white background or the black background for these photos? Just for fun, let me know what you think!
Now, be sure to go to the CTD blog and check out what all the other designers have come up with this week. Post your card on your blog or an online gallery, then link it back to Mr Linky on the CTD blog. I thoroughly enjoyed making these and I hope you have fun too!
Oh - I'm lovin' these colors & your sweet cards!!! I wish I hadn't seen this tonight... now I'm tempted to pull an all-nighter just to stamp & play! Oh, and I think I like the white better... sweet dreams!
ReplyDeleteOUH LeAnne how amazing are these card? Whow you sure rocked this challenge my dear!
ReplyDeleteI sure do love the designer paper you chose - it fit just perfect - The design of the card are fabulous as well
I do appreciate your nice work!
Got your card yesterday and it's beautiful! Thanks so much--I'll be posting it on my blog later.
ReplyDeleteAs for your backgrounds, I don't usually like black; but for a white card base, I think it gives more contrast. For other colors of cardstock, I would use the white background.
How fresh & fun! I love these colors!!! Thanks for the inspiration today :-)

ReplyDeleteVery very nice cards. I like the black background for these particular cards-makes the colors really POP!
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards!! Your sister is just going to LOVE these! All those pretty DSP's are sure to please!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the black over the white, but my tastes tend to be on the dramatic side :D
Your link on the CTD Mr Linky isn't working BTW! It takes us to a dead end:)
Awesome sets!!! Great papers!
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards, LeAnne! Your sister will LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteOoh LeAnne, these are gorgeous! Love these card sets!
ReplyDeletehey there, well it depends on the card iof course but if I had a vote it would be black!!!
ReplyDeleteget cards--I am sure your sister will love them--who wouldn't!!
ReplyDeleteI am partial to the black background--always have been but I switched to taking mine on white (even though I liked black better) because I did they same kind of "poll" and most people said white--not sure why??!!?? I think the black really makes the colors pop out--I often feel like the white washes my cards out--but alas I went with popular demand!! :-)
Lovely set of thank you cards. I love that Lemonade paper!
ReplyDeleteOh my, these are totally gorgeous! Love that BG paper! I think with these particular cards, that black background really highlights the great colors. ~chris
