Color Throwdown #36

CTD36 Banner

This week's challenge is extra-special!  Or should I say "eggs-tra special"!  No April foolin' either!  Because we have reached 100 followers,  Our Craft Lounge has donated two Easter stamp sets to give away courtesy of our resident banner babe, Kisa!  Check these out:

Aren't they cute?!!  And you could win them!  And in honor of OCL, we are using their banner colors as our challenge today:

So pick up those stamps, rev up those ink pads and get creative!  Feel free to use any colors as long as they are close to these, and if you have some OCL stamps and want to use them, even better!  Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery and link it to Mr. Linky on the CTD blog!  Be sure to use the keyword CTD36 if you post to a gallery, and please be sure to link your specific CTD post to Mr Linky, not your general blog address!!  That's a no-n0!!!

So for my card today, I decided to do something a little fun, since these are such fun, cute images!  I haven't done a spinner card in a long, long time, and the little bug from Just Bugz seemed to be the perfect little critter!  You can find the directions to make a spinner card on SCS here.

If you've never seen a spinner card, the little image "spins" along the channel, making it an interactive, fun card--kids (and adults!) love them.  Just tilt the card a little and the image spins along, back and forth:

DSCF3609  If I was really clever, I'd have a video here, but I'm not, so you'll have to use your imagination!!!

My card base is Pink Passion; I used some retired Summer Picnic DP as my card front, and I stamped the little flower from Enjoy Every Moment in Pink Passion ink randomly over the paper.  A white gel pen highlights the centers of each, as well as the scallop of Tempting Turquoise on which my little bug is mounted.  The "smile" from Anna Mae was colored with markers and cut out and mounted on another circle along with a flower from SU's retired 3-flower punch.  A cool trick was to use my Word Window punch to make the channel--this really speeds up the process to make this card, which doesn't take that long at all!

Now let's see what the others have come up with:

  • Stamps:  Enjoy Every Moment, IBBG, SU; Just Bugz and Anna Mae, Our Craft Lounge
  • Paper:  Pink Passion, White, Tempting Turquoise, Summer Picnic (ret SU)
  • Ink:  Pink Passion, Palette Noir, Tempting Turquoise
  • Acc:  Markers, Word Window Punch, Scallop Punch, Circle Punches, Turquoise Grosgrain ribbon, 3-Flower Punch, White Gel Pen, lots of dimensionals, pennies
